This is the first car in years that could get me back into a Honda product. The transmission is made by ZF so I don't have to worry and it looks like a very nice car. Overall I liked the rest of my Honda cars. I really liked the way they handled and they way the engine valves worked you could really tell that there was a motorcycle heritage. Nice work Honda.

BMW is not so unreliable, it's just that BMW maintenance (cost of ownership) is high. On average, say if you owned either car for 10 years you'd be paying thousands more for BMW than Acura. Toyota and Lexus long term maintenance costs are even lower though (significantly lower).

I'm trading my 2011 BMW 335i xdrive coupe in for this car. I will miss everything about my Bimmer but the repair costs. I maintained my car very well over the last few years and it has been reliable but now the fun starts! It just blew all the engine seals and cracked the valve cover at only 58k miles of driving it like an adult. That repair bill was 3 grand. Now it has a few more issues because of the repair. You fix one thing and then another thing goes wrong. I have had Porsche 911's that had less frequent and similar cost problems (but it is a PORSCHE) I loved the BWM, flat cornering, great steering feel, solid body, turns heads, great engine power, super stable at speed, low wind drag, luxury and sounds amazing. It makes the TLX, G60 and IS350 feel like wet cardboard boxes on wheels by comparison. I loved that I got respect from other high end cars enthusiast in an entry level coupe. It will be a bit of a let down going to a car like the TLX (I drove a 2005 TSX for 5 years and it wasn't very sporty at all but was very reliable). But...reliability is key here and the TLX is a good enough, fun and respected car. Now I can add a Porsche for the weekends and have a daily driver that isn't in the shop every other month with odd ball 3000 dollar bills at only 60k miles. I can only imagine what it would cost if I was dumb enough to take it to the dealership for repairs. Lesson learned, ALWAYS get an extended warranty on a German car. I thought I could get away with it for a year or two.....nope. Acura here I come, I will sleep better at night now.

For those who think Acura's suck. It's opinion so I can't say you're wrong but I can justify why I think Acura's one of the best luxury brands. Aside from missing a full size luxury sedan, they have everything. Close to 380HP, all wheel drive, and still over 30MPG combined in the RL. How many automakers can make a claim even close to that. From headlights to the dual screen interior to the gear selector, everything is unique. And then there's Chrysler and GM. GM Acadia and Buick Enclave look like a cheap version of Audi Q7 with all those Audi knock off headlights. First Chrysler makes a knock off version of Audi A8 gear selector and now they make a Jaguar knock off gear selector. These American brands are lame with no heart and shamelessly steal every little feature from other cars. Acura has reliability, value, build quality, and everything they do is unique and not some knock off of another brand like Chrysler and GM do. I drive a Lexus LS460 and I love it, just waiting till Acura makes a LS competitor so I can switch over, or I might just go for RL as it offers similar power, features, and while overall length is smaller the interior rear seat room is the same. BMW, Audi, Mercedes all offer unique features and experiences but it's just the reliability and terrible resale value. That's why I prefer Lexus and Acura. Any american brand? Hell no. I like Cadillac but because GM's other brands are nothing but knock offs, I wouldn't even consider the Cadillac.

Who cares about the Acura RL and Lexus LS460 they are all too heavy and not good for the track , all us car guys care about is sport cars and spirited driving. ACURA needs a TLX with lower curb weight dual clutch transmission on V6 with supercharger option , better exhaust and lowered , so far Honda is only making boring commuter cars : (

Slickpete83 Yea because you "car guys" are on track 24/7. I'm not referring to you when I say "car guys" but most so called "car guys" haven't even seen a track and yet they go around saying "but that's not a track car". Most of us drive on city and highway roads and it doesn't really matter whether the car handles like a GTR or Camaro. As long as it has good acceleration and brakes and decent steering feel. We're good to go.

Slickpete83 I'm a huge car enthusiast and Acura is by far my favorite car brand. Fast and sporty cars are cool, but that really shouldn't be the reason you decide to buy a car. That's why you'll see me in a Honda Accord instead of a Corvette or a GT-R. I think the way a car makes you feel is much more important than raw power or speed

I got a 3.7L MDX and I agree, I test drove a ML350, BMWx5 and a Porsche Cayenne v6, the acura handled better was faster and had a better interior than all but the Mercedes in terms of interior quality, but the fuel economy is like that of a V8(14mpg avg), but I don't care now with gas as low as it is. Why do some car makers choose to put exhaust pipes hidden under the bumper. It really just ruins the coolest part of owning a gasoline powered engine. Having the exhaust free flowing directly out the back, seeing the smoke coming from the tips, hearing it. I think Acura needs to step it up at some point and compete with its rivals in the styling department. Its obvious Honda/Acura dont really care, they just do their own thing and the cars sell anyway. But i haven't liked any of their offerings after the 90s. Honda's look fucking disgusting, and Acuras are just slightly prettier Honda.

Seems like the new tlx should be quicker than the old TL. While now the AT has 9 gears, does that really deliver power when the car needs it or is it just another gimmick to say Acura has added better logic to the AU box? As far as the car it self, seems like Acura is always trying hard to design a body shape that will stand out among the crowds. Not sire if they succeed, i seen a 2021 mode and i dislike the rear fascia lights, side view is ok and he front is fine. Hopefully they can fine tune to get it upto competition against the German brands.
