He didn't need to gut the ice cream truck. He's still selling milkshakes. So is Starbucks, and pretty much most American cafes. They just call them coffee.

What's the down time from starting the generator and having the boiler on the La San Marco warming up to temp to pull your first shots? 1 Gallon of milk roughly equals 27 cups or 20oz latte coffees. do you find milk storage to be a problem?

OLD TIME TINKER! Always kept the espresso machine running. Traveled with the generator on and plugged in when finished. I had a refrigerator to store the dairy. The most fun I’ve ever had.

Boiler Question: 30 minutes on most machines. Also, most under the counter fridges will hold 6-8 gallons, easily enough for a $500 day.

hi I'm looking at starting up a mobile coffee van buisness in Australia and I was wondering if you could give me advise on the machines you use for the smoothies, where you sourced the coffee and supplies from. I'm new to this and would really appreciate any help. Thanks Sue

Hey Sue, if it helps, I just use a Ninja for my blender, it keeps my power needs down. That's worked great for us for over a year. I think I got it for $60 originally. I get my coffee locally and would advise you to do the same. It's kinda fun going to the local roasters and trying their stuff. Word of the wise, keep a guest roaster coming in at least once a month so your always trying new stuff. Also, I get my supplies from a local restaurant supply chain. There are two here that I shop from, as far as cups and what not. It's nice to be able to swing in and pick up when ever I need. I have a ton of more info on my blog: www.greenjoecoffeetruck.com

Any commercial blender would work. A ninja might not be a bad option. simple and inexpensive. not sure if it can keep up with a high volume demand.

We use a jamba quiet shield blender. It's strong, fairly inexpensive, and quiet.

You will still need financing for a truck if that’s what you’re going with. The commercial equipment will take up most of your money but your sales will make up for the loan or if you find a grant. There’s a company based out of Wisconsin that builds custom truck if you’re interested.

You can build your own for this budget. Contract the plumbing, electric and carpenter work. Do you own painting, flooring and shelves and you'll be good to go. My first trailer cost me $15k, my second truck cost me $12k. I just build another trailer for less than $10k. See my blog for more info: www.greenjoecoffeetruck.com
