The 2015 Optima was being driven down the highway when it lost acceleration power. Then a noticable knocking sound starting coming from under the hood. Car never stalled but service engine light was flashing. The car was 60 miles away from home and Kia would only tow it up to 40 miles at no cost. Ended up having them tow it to a Kia dealership that was only about 15 to 20 miles from where it broke down. So the car is still almost an hour drive away from home. This happened on a Sunday so no loaner car just yet and not sure what the noise is. Car has 59,316 miles on it.
Update:
After Kia was able to look at the car they informed me the engine would need replaced. They didn't give me a hard time and was no cost to me. They also gave me a rental. The only problem was how long it was going to take to replace the engine. Ended up trading the car in for what I owed on it (about 12k at the time) before it was fixed. I bought a 2019 Kia Optima S and couldn't be happier.
