Great tutorial. Micra is my first car and I'm pretty nervous about all those maintenance checks. Thanks!

Hey Paul, thanks for the tutorial. Though I don't have a Nissan Micra of my own, I am quite interested in purchasing one in the future. How is the MPG so far? I drive an old CR-V and have found it to be very reliable but the gas consumption is bothering me. :(

It varies; if I drive mostly 80km/h highways, I get around 5.8L/100km, but if I travel the 100km/h highways (ie; 401), it can drop to a city/highway average of 6.5L/100km.

That sounds alright. It'll be an alright city runner for me then. I do get out of the city but I don't take the highway so I'll be driving around 80km/hr so if I do get the Micra, 5.8L/100km sounds good. :D

Hi Paul. A newbie here. With the cooling system - is it antifreeze that goes in it? Thanks

Hi, Angie. Yes, properly mixed antifreeze goes into the coolant bottle. You can buy it pre-mixed if you like. If it's low, there's likely a problem you'll need to have checked out, because under normal conditions, the car shouldn't use any antifreeze.

If you're ever in a situation with no coolant (antifreeze) you can always add water until you fix the problem. Otherwise your car shouldn't use any until it starts getting mush older.
