Old but thank you very much! I 100% threw my timing completley off and had to start from scratch but should be good to go now!

Great video, makes it a lot more clear. I couldn't find any technical service manuals on the Web so this makes me feel a lot better. I think I'll tackle mine this weekend. Thanks.

One thing in all videos I’ve seen about timing the Coyote , I haven’t heard anyone saying to put #1 cylinder at top dead center, then counter clockwise the key way to 9 o’clock

Great vid sir. I'm in the process of pulling my timing cover back off since I'm getting a misfire and only running on the passenger side bank 2015 coyote engine. When I did the opg's back in oct of 16. I went with the instal instructions of 11-14 coyote. Just recently I found out that the 15 up process is a little different. I'm hoping you can help me out here to set my timing correctly. Do you by any chance have other vids showing that procedure? Btw I also installed am mmr billet crank gear as well but the marking on it points to 7 o'clock when the keyway on the crank is facing 12 o'clock.

If you turn the engine clockwise too far when setting it to do the RH chain, you can just turn it back counterclockwise? No issues in that? Just don't keep turning it clockwise to get the marks lined up again?
@Silent_Shadow
10 ай бұрын
Never turn one of these engines counterclockwise. Just rotate it clockwise until it lines back up. It can and will skip a tooth. That is the warning and reason Ford gives in the manual. I'm a Ford tech. Learned it the hard way once and had to pull it back apart and start over.

I pulled a 2016 motor from a wrecked 5.0, though when I disassembled the motor I noticed the blue links aren't lined up with the cam markings or the crank sprocket mark. Is that normal? I was told just to Mark the chain how I removed it and reinstall lined up with the marks I made.
@coyotekelly7143

Yes that's normal. The blue links are only for assembly timing procedure. The links will only line back up after like 72 or something revolutions.

I bought the "special tool" and it sucks. You can't get enough leverage to turn the crankshaft all the way because the handle is too short and doesn't have a provision to attach a ratchet or cheater bar to get leverage. They put a BS lanyard loop on it when they could have put a hole for a ratchet.

Hi, I am having a forester petrol of 2014, normally short trips, now on 12400 miles after 3 years. Recently started knocking sound on slow speed, around 1000 rpm. Very noticeable on releasing the accelerator. And slightly noticeable on idle speed. Can you please give me a reason for this sound. And how can I solve it. It is a right hand drive from UK. I believe the noise come from passenger side . [left side of the engine]. Show less REPLY
