Bought a similar '18 Colorado a month ago. Base engine, w/ manual transmission. It's a useful hauler, with power doors, locks, et al. I average 23 mpg and she's a useful light-duty hauler/commuter. Enjoyed your clip.

Hello there! Nice truck you have there. I’m in my second Colorado! The first was an Ext Cab Z71,4x4, V6, that ran great averaging 20 mpg overall with 17 city 25 highway. That also towed our 22’ 4,500 lbs Travel Trailer with ease getting an average of 13 mpg on a 4,000 mile 4 month trip! But after we both retired and need only one vehicle, we traded that one in on a new Crew Cab W/T 4x4, V6, that I found with everything you can get on a W/T, like Appearance Package, Convenience Package, Towing Package, that gets be only what I wanted, nothing more, plus the dealer added the extra Skid Plates that comes in a ZR2, from the front bumper to the end of the trans/transfer case and gas tank. With an 84 month 100,000 miles Bumper to Bumper Warranty! All for under 33k. I have also added LED lights throughout, with an aftermarket LED Light Bar just under the grill. The truck is all white especially after I painted the grill. With a grey vinyl interior, that I added the nice Carhart Seatcovers. I’ve also installed a 2.5” Front Coil-Over Kit, with the same brand Fox Shocks in the rear with Air-Bags so I can tow nice an level with a full 10,200 lbs of the 12,000lbs CGVWR! The Front Coil-Overs really added for the ride/control, with at least another 2” of suspension travel we really feel off road and over the biggest potholes! When the tires, 265/70-16 get more miles on them I plan on swapping them out for 265/75-16, with a more aggressive tread pattern. Like everyone I wanted a ZR2, but they are too close to the towing limit for me. So with the 10k+ I’ve saved I have the room to have my tow ratting and off road advantages. Oh well take care out there have fun and stay safe!

I got a 2018 Chevy Colorado 4-cylinder standard trans extended cab work truck model with the convenience and appearance package and my only gripe is the tires are really noisy and it doesn't pull 3500 pound boat worth a crap. The only upgrades I added was a tow package and fog lights. Overall it's been a pretty good mid-size truck but I still wish I got the V6.

First off, thanks for posting this video. When I'm looking into buying a car it's awesome when i find a video from an owner that doesn't just rehash all the things other videos do. Excellent rundown about issues you've had. Second, I'm not a mechanic but i have done a lot of maintenance and repairwork, and the best guess i can give for the wobbling crank pulley is that the harmonic balancer may have become misaligned when the dealership uninstalled/installed it while replacing all those gaskets. Third, I know that in most larger pickups you can start off in 2nd (1st is generally a creeper for when you're hauling). Have you found that to be the case here since this is a 6 speed?

thanks for the reply! 1st gear is legit for sure i use it every start not a creeper.

I have the 2016 Extended Cab in WT trim with convenience package. Same engine and transmission as here. Likewise no OnStar, which is ok by me. I am very happy with this truck. I don’t tow anything and drive it easily. Should be the last vehicle I buy, at my age.

The crankshaft bolt snapped on my f150 which caused a timely process to drill it out you may want to look into replacing that bolt with some lock tight and torquing it down to factory spec

Do you ever think about putting better rims and tires on yours ? My local Chevy dealer has a couple wt Colorado's like yours, some with back seats and some without them and I thought it would look cool with black rims. Great video too by the way.

Ahh, would you say this truck would work good as a first car, from your experience of driving it. Also what van are you driving now?
@wawerd

Well depends it’s a standard and I think that make a better driver on the long term but could mess up the clutch a bit learning but it’s a tough truck for sure. And the van is a promaster. I have a build series on my channel if you wanta check it out. Thanks

I have the same oil marks on my 15’ Canyon. Never really thought much of it until I saw your video. What exactly was going on there? I have some fears about taking it by the dealer because sometimes they can fix one problem and create another.

Have you driven it in snow at all? How much weight do you add to it or is the traction control system pretty good? Iv got a rwd nissan hardbody an that has no traction control what so ever so if you dont put at least 500lbs in the back with or without snow tires you cant go anywhere with it. I might buy one of these to replace that truck when it dies
@wawerd

very little snow driving so far. i carry the snow zip ties just in case its a one time use but had good luck with them the two times i used them. i would imagine that all rwd trucks are lite on the back end. good tires make a world of difference m/s series are good. and weight in back like you said

Those nissan hardbody trucks are like cockroaches with the 2.4. Have a 240sx with that motor with 200k miles and it idles smoother then any other car Ive owned. Keep it running and save the cash and let GM work out the initial problems on these.

It's u fortunate u had to deal with oil leak and engine issues. It's really unacceptable at that mileage you needed an overhaul. Then cheap clamps to worry about burning the motor. Yikes

Those tires are too big. My 09 Colorado came with 215/70R16. I kept the factory aluminum wheels and added white letter tires stock size.

2015, same engine! Needed a whole new engine after 120000 miles. Stay away from these turds. The cam and intake actuators go out and the minute they go out they will mess up your engine. Valve lifter problems also. I also had an oil leak around the same area..

The V6 engines have timing chain issues on 15 and 16 models and 17 and newer models have AFM and oil pump problems on V6 engines.
