Nice video, always enjoyable to watch u people work. Used to go on the website and look at the claims for sale and dream about my own claim but life gets in the way. Going to the Yukon next year and visit inlaws in Haynes Junction, will be my first trip to the big north, cant wait.

Very destructive for just a bit of something shiny .

the very device you used to make this comment wouldn't work without that particular shiny something. Placer mining is one of the cleanest ways to extract gold. If it can't be grown, It has to be mined.

@@R1GHTME0W You are right of course , but almost all gold (nearly 80%) goes to make shiny trinkets, then the next biggest use is investment, followed by electronics, which includes computers, then dentistry and medicine ,then aerospace followed by miscellaneous which includes medals statues and foil for decorating and the such like . But if what your saying is that your technique for gold extraction is 'kinder' to the environment than the other techniques for extraction .Then you have to admit its a very destructive process for a bit of something shiny . As much as I appreciate the bit of conductive metal that allows the electronic impulses to move faster than all else. I still think its a very destructive process. That's all I'm saying . Maybe if we can convince all the trinket wearers to go for something a little less shiny we can be 80% less destructive .

I'm missing the yukon so much. Are you going to upload a 2017 season video? That would be great!

Yes the Spell of the Yukon is a real thing isn't it! Yes I will upload a video from this season, I began working on it yesterday but I'm battling with a slow and seriously outdated computer that isn't very happy with me, so it might be a little while before I complete it. Thanks

What kind of trucks do you haul the dirt with

We are using Caterpillar 769B's, which are from the late 60's or early 70's. The boss already had one which he liked a lot, then he had the opportunity to buy some more so to keep repairs and maintenance simple he bought some more the same. We have one Cat D300 which is articulated - very handy in muddy or tight spots and good on fuel but it doesn't have as big a box as the 769's.

Great video and all the luck to you and your endeavors I am curious on why you guys don't use a cutter head dredge to remove 20 ft of overburden. I'm thinking it may have something to do with permafrost but I could be mistaken your thoughts would be much appreciated good luck for your gold ring remember you're going to need another pair for when you renew your vows LOL

nice video :D is this a gold machine 100 or 200?
@R1GHTME0W

Thanks! This is a 200. We put an oscillating table right at the end of the sluice runs to see if we were missing any gold on the side or tail sluice but not much showed up on it at all :)

do you have to deal with black muck very often?
@R1GHTME0W
6 жыл бұрын
Yes, down in the creek valley there is a lot of deep muck, but even up on the bench like in the season this video is made from we had to strip anywhere from 6 - 20 feet of black muck, as well as a silt layer and a lot of gravel before we reached the pay layer. We began in a spot that had been hydraulically mined by Klondike gold rush miners and went on from there.

Kate L 20 feet is a lot😨 do you rip it with the dozers or do you use monitors
@R1GHTME0W
6 жыл бұрын
Yes we try to rip with the dozer as often as possible but if it's not then we scrape away at the frozen ground with excavators. That means a lot of bucket teeth!

Kate L if you have to remove that much of overburden the paydirt must contain a lot of gold :D

Towards the end of the season this video was made from we did try to sluice 24/7, or at least sluice through the night and either sluice or make repairs during the day. But earlier in the season, and during the season we have just finished we only ran day shift which is 8am - 8pm.

thats a good sign:D why are you feeding with an excacavator instead a wheel loader and a hopper/feeder you would burn less fuel:)
@R1GHTME0W
7 жыл бұрын
Yeah that would be an ideal situation, i'd say the boss would like that too. With the hopper/feeder, i'd say it most likely comes down to money - those things don't come cheap. The loader that Dulac Mining has would be too heavy for the ground up there, and we don't have a spare dozer either. The 270 excavator did really well fuel wise , just running at a low idle the whole time which was ideal because it kept overheating anyway. With the soft ground the 988b loader would have burnt a whole tank or more a day, shes a big girl!! haha :) I would like to see my boss be able to run his operation exactly the way he would like to, he deserves it, however conditions and just plain old murphy's law causes it to not be this way :)
