This is the only review that mentions the transmission never shifts into 9th. I’m at 30,000 and I finally just noticed 9th gear while driving across Texas at 85mph. You have to be going downhill or very flat and be going around 85 with just enough throttle to maintain speed. Even then sometimes it likes to hold 7 or 8 gear

I just bought a used 2016 Trailhawk last weekend with 18,000 miles on it, the cost....$24,500 plus tax. They were selling another identical one with only 13,000 miles for $25,400 so they become ridiculously affordable pretty quickly if you don't mind a car that only looks brand new.

Yeah .... It's pretty ironic how these things can really really cruise at high speeds. Mine is geared a little bit lower because I have the 2.4 and it will hit 9th gear at about 75 to 80 mph especially if you're going downhill but it seems like the computer kind of wants you to cruise for a little bit before it jumps into 9th so I think you have to be in cruise for probably 5 or 10 minutes usually and then it will get in a 9th gear.... it doesn't stay there very long though... usually going downhill on the interstate. Also , if your tire pressure is too low it's not going to hit 9th because there's too much rolling resistance and it won't upshift. That's what I've found. It DOES work and the rpms are really low - like 1800 rpms at 80. You have to remember that they use ZF transmission in Porsche. I think it would stay nice and cool cruising at 115 mph lol. Incredible vehicle!

Actually, the other CUVs mentioned (RAV4, CRV, CX5) are Compacts, not mid-sized as Ms Hall stated. So, the Cherokee has less room than those "smaller" vehicles.

We had a 2014 Cherokee Trailhawk. Worst car we have ever purchased. So glad to send it away with the Lemon Law. Good call on the deceptively small rear cargo area. We had the big moonroof. The wheels for the sun cover rattle going down the road. We had many problems with the transmission. Our dash was torn apart multiple times to fix the Hvac. Final straw was the intermittent cooling system leak. Check out the 4runner Trail edition. It has a rear locker and above average reliability.

In other markets, this model is priced to compete with luxury SUVs like BMW X3, Audi Q5 and Mercedes GLC which seems a bit of a stretch.

Emmie I can tell you 9th gear does exist! But you need to be in the perfect world where everything aligns perfectly. I got into 9th at about 82 mph with no wind or driving with the wind. If you find any incline in grade you instantly drop to 9th where it spends 99.9 percent of its time while on the highway. My 2015 Chrysler 200S AWD V6 had no issue find and keeping 9th gear. So, Ms Hall, it does exist!

Great Jeep if you dont want to spent all the $$ on the bigger vehicles. Not everone wants to park a truck in the garrage either. If you want a jeep that has a better ride then get a diff package.

Have no idea how Emme can go from SUV to Miata. Very stark contrast. Wasn't this thing rated the worst SUV on the market?? Riddled with reliability issues? Always great to see Emme.

rough on the pavement? i don't feel it though, and i switched from a japanese car to this jeep, ya'll know how smooth and shock absorb japanese cars are. imo the jeep is pretty smooth. And i agree with the point on uconnect. I wish there was apple carplay built-in, cuz the voice command on uconnect is really not good, and i think the microphone is on the rear mirror, so every time i call someone or use the voice control i gotta lean forward to the rear view mirror. And FYI if u have heat and vented seat then you'll have no underseat storage like the one shown in the video.

Great concise review. Jeep is over priced. I rather spend 38K on a Tacoma, Wrangler or spend 30K on a fully loaded Forester.
@AStanton1966
7 жыл бұрын
I don't know about the Wrangler, but the Tacoma and the Forester have no locking rear differential like the Trailhawk. And the Forester has no 4-wheel drive low or ability to tow 4,000 lbs. Plus the Trailhawk V-6 gets about 20 mpg around town--try that with your Tacoma 4-wheel drive in the V-6. We currently have a 2017 V-6 Trailhawk and it's exciting to get behind its wheel every time you drive.

When I compare it to the other corssovers as she suggests, I see a Jeep the crushes the competition off road...and Subaru can have its box shape cargo room...the KL is a much more capable SUV!
