Lincoln has always been a slightly ‘cooler’ American luxury brand than Cadillac. Sure, Caddy has likely sold more cars over the years, but some of the iconic Lincolns like the Continental hold a special place for car enthusiasts. The brand is steeped in history, and as such - you expect a lot when you buy one. When you first see the 2016 MKX’s imposing front grille and headlights, you immediately recognize the Lincoln DNA. But does it live up to the mystique?
Well, in some ways, yes, but in other ways there’s room for improvement. First of all, it’s a great-looking SUV. Being a self-proclaimed station-wagon enthusiast, I’m not always a fan of SUV’s and their displacement of my beloved wagons from the marketplace. However, I recognize their popularity for the utility and perceived safety that the higher-driving position inspires.
By this time, I’ve driven lots of them - and the Lincoln has some great features to keep buyers busy. Its first generation Sync Infotainment system leaves lots to be desired, so hopefully soon they will upgrade to the newest system which is much simpler and more user friendly. The comfort is all there...
