I just purchased my third and probably last lancer,all were manuals... this car is somehow very special, it never breaks down, always starts and nicely keeps the road, accelerates well on highway and very comfortable. I wish Mitsu kept this model like cirollas elantras and civics as no all ppls lije truck-like cuvs, i like to cruise on highway in a sport-ish sedan...

My Mom bought a new 2010 GTS Sportback in 2011. Dealer was discounting the heck out of them. After a month I liked hers so much I got one for myself. Both were 100% reliable - never needed a single repair. I drove mine 10 years then gave it to my sister. She still hasn't had a problem 13 years later. Plus that hard plastic you kept mentioning wears like iron. I got compliments on its looks all the time. 10 years after I bought it the car still looked better than most new cars. The only gripe I had was the spotty dealer network. In 2020 I got a recall notice for a couple minor things (not mechanical) and the nearest dealer was 65 miles from my home.

Compared to its competition, in my opinion, the normal Civic models, the Corolla, Elantra, Cruze, Forte... I think the lancer's HP is in line with the competition despite being "old." So I don't really think it's underpowered compared to them. Also it has the benefit of fully independent suspension. I think it's a pretty good buy!
@carbuzzcom

It is a good buy because it's a good price. But driving the Lancer compared to, say, a new Civic, you'll quickly notice the Lancer's age.

are you talking about 2.0l Lancer because Cruze actually has 153 hp fyi and base Civic does 158 hp and both out sell the lancer 10 to 1 also lanver now if its 2.4l ... Elantra sport, Forte,and Civic EX have more than 170+hp so Lancer lacks in hp ,cargo space ,mpg and design if they had a Evo or Ralliart package for Gts like spoiler ,steering wheel ,Evo or almost hood etc.. maybe they'll sell more but nah
@m3chan1zr
7 жыл бұрын
Jaime Prado It's true that those models have slightly more horsepower but the power ratings on the lander is still pretty much in-line with the segment. Agreed that the others outsell the lancer but if you're looking for a good deal for what I think isn't bad of a car, the lancer is still a good option. Just out of curiosity, I went to the dealer and asked about it. They were willing to sell their $22k MSRP lancers to me for $16k (plus tax of course). I couldn't get Jaguar to give me that much off on their last year leftover model. I say it still isn't a bad choice for a person wanting to get a good deal and have decent features for the money.

148 hp is not THAT bad. Especially with a manual. Many economy cars make do with 100 hp. 29 grand for a Lancer is insane. You can get these thousands less in all trims than what the MSRP suggests. My Lawd, we bought a Subaru Forester Premium with Panoramic Moon Roof and CVT for 25 grand. I see base Lancers going for 12,500 to 22 grand fully equipped.

Even being mostly the same car from about 10 years ago, I always thought this cars exterior was better looking than other more popular cars in its class. Interior is definitely outdated, but its refreshingly simple. The main key element explaining why it still sells at all is because its always been different and in my opinion better looking than its only competitor, the subaru impreza. This car is still fairly sporty looking, while the impreza has always had that subaru tree hugger/soccer mom look or vibe to it. Also, as mentioned, its still a good value for the money. One thing though...I understand being financially challenged Mitsibishi, but cmon...You couldnt keep the 10 year old Lancer GT with the shift paddles for 2017 ? Really ? Also, would a new steering wheel kill you ? LOL

According to Mitsubishi Motors North America's sales figure, their sales are growing each month. Their target is i think over 120.000 cars sold in the 2017 year over last year's 100.000 figure. Eventhough i think this number pales in comparison to Toyota and Honda or other car manufacturers, this signals their growth and that means they will stay in the US market for quite sometime. In the meantime i hope they invest in R&D for the US market to gain more marketshare. Volkswagen for example makes the Atlas exclusively for the US market, because they know that the US market prefer a mid-sized or full sized SUV. With the upcoming Eclipse Cross, I have high hopes for Mitsubishi, because they have Nissan engineers and designers to help them in the coming years.

I own a 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse as a secondary car just because It has no retail value together rid off. Anyways, the engine is pretty solid, they do make a decent engine but..... Like he said the cheap plastics...beside the motor Mitsubishi is shit. The dash is falling apart the Cruise control hasn't worked in ages, The radio built in amp is blown, the AC leaks water into the cabin, I can go on and on. Now this car is a great cheap car, bit don't expect it to hold up well past the warranty.

It's the og car and I like it. Looks original and simple and not too all over the place. Though for the Evo, I would like to see an "evolution" interior to make it more worth to buy the Evo. Hope Mitsubishi bring back Evo as the Evo XI and not copy cat other manufacturers for the design and looks. Make it like it's an Evo but look more modern and unique and doesn't a straight up look a Civic."
