To be fair, the Americans are very sporting. I suppose it's easy to be when you are so dominant. I know the others appreciate it though as a couple, including Aliya have commented on it in interviews. I can't imagine how difficult it must be mentally to make yourself get back up & finish your bar routine (or ANY routine I guess?!) After falling & knowing right in that instant that there's ZERO hope for you to get a medal.... Obviously you'd be a pretty poor sport to just throw your hands up & be like "I'm DONE!" but, come on- you KNOW there's a part in the back of your head that's screaming "GAAAHH! I CANNOT BELIEVE I just did that- I don't even want to finish- can't I just go bury my head in the sand now?!"

@@L.JPawtraits oh really? Well.... With what I've just seen of her personality type (what was it... The Sydney Olympics...? When she was like POSITIVE she was gonna win gold as was her team- that was the Olympics when there was all that controversy over th vaulting table being set a little too short or tall or whatever? I'm not exactly a "gymnast" by ANY means- I pretty much only "know" what I know based off what I've watched on here or on TV over the last 4-5yrs?! ( I'm a lifelong Equestrian- 3-Day Eventer/"Equestrian Triathlon"- rider- with some "Pure" Show Jumping & Dressage as well. I just REALLY enjoy watching gymnastics too!) But uhh yeah- the one when she was suuuuper pissed & ripped off her silver team medal etc... Lol. Yeah- I could totally see her doing that!?! Then again, I can ALSO see if ANYONE is at a competition where 1) They're NOT competing for/on a TEAM & their score isn't needed- even if it's a bad score 2) if they suffered even a very minor injury when they fell- enough that they felt rattled enough that it'd be dangerous to continue 3) maybe they knew themselves well enough that they MENTALLY knew it "wasn't their day" & they would be better off stopping after a fall before it got worse.... Etc etc. (exact same stuff happens in the Equestrian world in Jumping- except you're disqualified after a fall & not even allowed back up lol) I know how hard that is to make yourself get back up & try again- even though with even Elite gymnasts- it DOES seem like they CAN sometimes still "come back" from a fall & still end up finishing quite well in the standings & even finish in the medals as individuals or teams?! (We just get Disqualified in jumping & aren't even allowed to get back on!) But.... Yeah, I guess like, unless a Simone Biles who's has a "regular" aka like, almost 2 full points ahead of 2nd/silver after 3 out of 4 of the apparatus- she can TOTALLY have an full blown fall & STILL get all-around gold by a big margin!? Yeah- Im thinkin' that's not NORMAL & never HAS BEEN in the sport?!?! Hahaha.....

I'm sorry but Tim need to FO with the 'two per country isn't fair' talk. It was fair when it was the Russians and Eastern European's were on top in the 70's - I.e when the USA were one of the countries pushing for the rule! To change it now one of the countries who wanted it is on top would be despicable. The rule is there for the good of gymnastics across the world. Yes it's unfortunate as the US have so many gymnasts who could compete who don't even make the team. But why is that? It's because the US is rich and has a good quality gym in every town. That's not the case anywhere else and never will be if gymnasts from a variety of counties aren't competing at Olympics and worlds.

They made the two-per-country rule, so that one country couldn't sweep the podium. Romania did it and ironically the U.S.A pushed for that rule. Now, that they have unarguably the best AA gymnasts in the world, they say that this rule is 'so unfair'. I, personally, like this rule, because it makes for a more colorful and exciting competition. Tim Daggart talking about the 2 per country rule being unfair is sooooo funny. Er, the USA were one of the countries pushing for that rule back in the day the soviets and Eastern European's ruled. Typical arrogance of an American (not all Americans) to want to change the rules back now it would suit them. I think the rule is correct. Otherwise it would be totally boring. The USA has a real advantage of good quality gyms everywhere and the college system makes it worth training even if you aren't Olympic or WC level. So they have a big advantage over other countries but we need to see gymnasts from more than the USA. Just as in the past it was good to see gymnasts from countries other than the USSR.

Pike Jaeger was rated as a "D" in 2013 - 2016 COP. They only upgraded it to an "E" in the most recent COP. So it wont make a difference. In fact, Aliya's routine is 0.2 higher than Maddie's in 2017-2020 COP. Since Pike Jaeger is an "E" element now.

@@meplenn I don’t know if you closed your ears during the commentary but he praises non-American gymnasts a lot here and criticizes Kocian’s handstand positions as well. I’m not even American, so I don’t know what you’re trying to achieve by trying to argue otherwise.

Not saying Aliya didn’t deserve to win, but I would be interested to see her deductions compared to Kocian’s.

@@fatbitch4311 & Nina Zuccaro From what I can see : Aliya's errors POSSIBILITY : angle on Inbar 1/1 (-0.1), leg sep and bent arms on Komova 2 (-0.2), angle on Pak (-0.1), leg sep on Pike Jaeger (-0.1), angle on the handstand 1/2 (-0.1), angle on Toe-On 1/1 (-0.1), relaxed foot on Dismount (-0.1) and step on landing (-0.1) => -0.9 so 15.9 !!!! Madison's errors POSSIBILITY : angle on Inbar 1/1 (-0.3), flexed feet and bent arms on Straddle Jaeger (-0.2), angle and leg sep on the handstand 1/2 (-0.2), angle on Straddle 1/1 (-0.1) and (IT DEPENDS ON VIEW JUDGE) leg sep on landing (-0.1) => -0.8/-0.9 so 15.833 with the average judges' scores !!!!

Fat Bitch Fucking relax. I just said Aliya deserved to win. Her pirouettes are spectacular as are her releases. Kocian’s performance was also fantastic, so I’d be interested to know if difficulty was ultimately the deciding factor. RELAX.

Gaod Rob damn that’s impressive! Either way, I feel like nobody can beat Aliya when it comes to the handstands. She could do 5 turns and still be right on top of the bar. I hope we see her in Tokyo!
