I’m not a big SUV fan but these definitely top my list! I’ve driven an older one and really liked it. Not sure on these newer ones but I know there was an older one on youtube that a guy put all terrain tires and and made a bunch of wheeling vids, he got pretty hardcore with it and it did well.

I have one and, aside from lack of acceleration, it is excellent. Bought a 2016 base 3.6 with 67k miles for under $30k. Put 30k trouble free miles on it. Last week I did a tune up, replaced front brakes, water pump and thermostat. The PCV valve went bad as expected, so I'm going to tackle that myself instead of paying a dealer $2k. Great daily driver especially if you are able to handle maintenance and repairs yourself

I’m looking at a ‘13 Cayenne S with the V8. I know their reliability is in question but maybe that’s from people who don’t do the preventive maintenance. It’s got 100k for $20k but looks immaculate. I’m in the fence but leaning towards it. Is it worth it being higher mileage?
@alexcrim2184
2 жыл бұрын
@@Mc88Flyy I can't speak from experience, because my '16 base just hit 100k miles. Completely agree with preventive maintenance being the key. Also be sure to scrutinize the carfax / vehicle history ... multiple ownership changes in a short period of time, long periods without reported maintenance and obviously accidents are all red flags. For around $20k, it may be a calculated risk worth taking. Good luck!

Def more sportier than a Mercedes. It feels slow but in reality you’re going very fast. The 13 has a different engine compared to the 16+ but yknow, it’s very classy. Not too obnoxious. Better build quality than normal although one of my windows has wind noise. Still pulls hard, very athletic stays flat in corners. For mine it’s a car that’s almost impossible to crash cause all the computer systems take care of you. Although all cayennes are different. You’d have to go try one out yourself.

I have a 2009 first Gen Cayenne the 957 ( face lift ) with the same VR6 motor, only differences are the slow Tiptronic 6 speed, and about 15 less horsepower and I must admit the motor on these are quite adequate. They even sound the exact same especially under hard acceleration shown in your 958.2 . Loll it’s sad to see the paddle shifters are still, in mine you can literally say the whole word “shift” before it actually responds
@MeynMotorGroup

That is awesome and yea the VR6 motor is phenomenal. It's funny, I just reviewed a 2019 redesigned Cayenne and honestly it lacks the character and sound of the VR6 on hard acceleration. I also didn't notice the new Cayenne handling much better than at least this 2016 vehicle I reviewed, have not checked out a first gen yet but I do like them. Thanks for stopping by my friend

I swear if I didn't have a wife and two kids I'd get a Cayenne. But since I do, I'm most likely going to get an RX450h. My main gripe with the RX450h is that it's a long 4.89m yet has a relatively small boot size vs. an XC90 which is only 4cm longer or the Cayenne which is 4cm shorter and both cars have huge boots compared to the RX450h. I'm test driving the RX450h next week and if I'm not blown away by the touted luxurious ride quality, I'm going to have to seriously consider the Cayenne. Totally respect your views, you have such a great way of expressing the real essence of the cars! Much better than 99+% of reviewers out there!
@aerotus888

Well I finally tested a 2019 RX450h. I am coming from a 2016 GLC. Some quick random observations in no particular order. RX seats are super soft and comfortable, far more so than the F Sport seats. I found it ridiculously hard to even get into the F Sport cabin as the roof line is so low!! That in itself was a show stopper. Anyway, back to the RX 450h. Overall a very pleasant, nicely driving and reliable car. It handled better than my GLC, suspension well sorted and better than GLC. Driving position isn't high enough for such a big car in my view and it's hard to judge the corners of the car and you can't see the front bonnet. Not easy to manouevre and park in tight spaces + the reverse camera had poor resolution and in the sun I could barely see the screen. Suspension was an improvement on the GLC, but by no means was it like riding on a pillow. Could still feel bumps on rough roads. I'm sure an air suspension on the Q7 or Range Rover would be in a different league of luxuriousness. Engine is smooth, quiet and powerful enough in reality and no one will be flooring it all the time. Cruise control system works different to GLC, seems slightly less well designed because braking doesn't automatically cancel it in the RX450h. My main gripe and reasons for not getting an RX 450h is that the car is so long lengthwise yet the boot is so tiny, also the car feels quite big to drive which is a major con for my wife who can't park to save her life. Noise suppression in cabin was great but not as good as I expected. The multimedia interface control knob was definitely fiddly and a nightmare to use. Mark Levinson system was underwhelming, the sound wasn't crisp and the neither was the bass. Having said that, I also previously tested the XC90 top sound system and it didn't wow me either. I guess nothing beats a great noise cancelling headset like Bose and this is just the sound quality you get in cars. The bluetooth connected to my phone well and I was impressed at the ease I could play music off my phone. The steering wheel is a tad too big and felt a bit slow and cumbersome over roundabouts. The plastic mould on the dash and doors isn't as nice as my GLC. The automatic hold function works amazingly. In my GLC, I have to push down on the brake everytime to trigger hold, otherwise car just starts moving once my foot is off the brake. The pano sunroof looked cheap, I could literally see gunks of yellow lube, which just wasn't very befitting of a luxury car. GLC panoroof is done extremely well in comparison. Plenty of room in back seats, very comfy back seats, very hard back rest for middle seat. My thinking now is that I should get a Cayenne as it feels like a smaller car on the road and drivability is the no.1 requirement for my wife who will be the main user. Top respect to Lexus though it's an amazing car if you don't need a big boot. Off to lust over some Cayenne's now. Thanks Kevin for your amazing reviews.

OMG. I test drove a 2014 60k Cayenne 4.2L diesel. Almost fully loaded. The drive was sublime! Stuck to the country roads like glue and had monster torque. I was about to buy it but doing the parking test at the end put me right off as it didn't have the steering plus pack meaning the hydraulic steering was quite hard work at parking speeds. Since my wife will be the main user and she can't park to save her life this was a deal breaker. Other things I didn't like from a family car perspective. The centre cubby is so tiny and the door bins small too. Not enough storage space! It was also difficult to get in and out of without a running board due to the high sports seat bolster. The headroom in the back was worse than expected (it had pan roof). The cruise control stalk is so fiddly and unintuitive to use. I realised adaptive cruise and lane keep assist is crucial as I depend on them during long drives. Can't believe I've turned down a Macan and now a Cayenne. Need something more family friendly. Maybe XC60. Urgh, the search continues!

@@aerotus888 what did you end up getting? And did you ever consider BMW?
@aerotus888
Жыл бұрын
@@RichRotorhead I actually got an Inscription Pro fully loaded XC60 with air suspension. Was the best compromise for my needs. Not exciting to drive but very competent, very comfortable air suspension and the best safety tech and most of all, the pilot assist is so reliable and takes the work out of long motorway journeys. The air suspension lowers the car on entry and exit so that solves the problem with my short wife. Very happy overall!

I tend to not like cayennes because of the large truck styling but it is truly a well engineered monster from the interior space, feel, ride and even fuel economy tells you volumes of how someone stopped and figure out how to make gigantic SUV drive great. This makes seems a Range Rover feel like an early 80s SUV Also Porsche is a real pain with options. heated seats, keyless start and that sunroof are all options. Not sure if bluetooth was standart by '16 but all these were expensive options. With Porsche you pay first for the chassis then everything else.

@@MeynMotorGroup What I liked about the Rovers was that they were the ultimate SUV or the King of SUV's because of their size & luxurious interiors. The refreshed 2020 RX is making it's debut and personally I'd never really had gotten what all the hoop-la was about until this model year. Previous RX models seems catered more to women than men but that seems to have changed for 202 & I'm liking the styling appearance for once as it's design is a little more sporty& a lot less conservative than before. Unfortunately I can’t really answer that as I have not driven those vehicles however, I did drive the RDX and really liked that. Honda Acura V6s are simply amazing and similar to what I said in the video, handles good but doesn’t quite have the capability of the Porsche. But the RDX was plenty fun for the streets and I appreciate it for sure, Acura’s are heavily slept on. I def need to go out and try a bunch of competitors now

Crazy you compare this car to almost Lexus quality. A porsche should not be double Lexus quality. At 6 year the whole interior rattles. What you missed is the awd is only good in drive and terrible in reverse like many cars. If you live in a snowy area don't park nose in you might need to get pulled out. This car isn't a true porsche at all. It's based on vw toureg, audi q7 and made by Volkswagen ag. Thr key location is the best you can start you car from outside thr door easily. As for this car, my option is it's just ok. It really doesn't live up to what it should be.

@@MeynMotorGroup Actually I do love that you mention the towing capability. You can tow your racecar. But what is cool is you can tow without annual inspection needed (in many areas) as this car is a non commercial vehicle. If you can get your hands on a q7 that might impress you and be good to comparing to a rav4 as the q5 is of similar size chasis and really this chasis (cayenne) is much bigger. Fti the cayanne is amazing un the snow. Best I've ever driven. The 3.0 diesel is actually an amazing engine too and identical engine code to q7. On being critical I actually find the transmission (due to the desire to make the car sporty) hunting for the optimal gear too ofter in the diesel for daily driving.
