Why is it still a "surprise"? It's his usual beginning of the season since he joined seniors, it's 7 YEARS now, why is it still a surprise? WTF is wrong with people? Short memory?

My guess would be that they expect him to have a better season start by this point. As you said, this is year 7 in the seniors for him. And because he is such an accomplished skater, I think they expect more from him than they do a lot of the other skaters. Is it fair? No, not really. But no one, including Brian, is going to be harder on Yuzuru than he himself is.

elegant. absolutely amazing. if only he didn't have the little slip at the beginning.... did he kind of lose his balance when he was about to end the performance, or was it a deliberate act?
@aeterniti

Elfin Erisa if you're talking about his slip at the end, he mentioned in an interview that he was in a hurry to end the program and was perhaps too eager and hence the tiny slip. (There are time restraints for every program starting from when the skater starts and stops skating rather than when the music ends. Yuzuru's FS this year cuts it very close with the time restraint, and going over can result in loss of points). To me though, it was kinda cute haha.

aeterniti Hi Aeterniti, thanks for explaining. I didn't see the interview so I didn't know. I think it's pretty tough when you are fully in-the-moment and then the time constraint kicks in. I'm sure if there is no time constraint everyone would want to see him continue :) i also found that ending cute :) but i am always very biased when it comes to Yuzuru's performance lol

Elfin Erisa No problem! For the FS Men's, the time limit is 4 minutes 30 seconds +/- 10 seconds so there's a slight window for the skaters. I believe in his practice before the competition (they time the skaters to tell them if they're over the time limit), Yuzuru has one second over the max when he stopped skating. So that might have been in his mind when he was actually competing haha.

For fucks sake. He had under rotations in his jumps. Before the performance is over, all jumps are credited as clean. After the performance they check for under rotations, edge calls etc and reduce the score as necessary.

@ (.w.) Yes this is for real, they started this right after GPF 2015 to force him to retire, he was never feds fav, they wanted a 'star' with the right passport. Giving 0 for mistakes is normal, but giving lots of 0 for other clean elements is not normal, he got 10 zeros for clean elements. On July 19 tv Tokyo interview he said ("It felt like as they were telling me YOU ARE NOT NEEDED anymore plz retire") I'm glad he never give up to the blatant injustice and won all the major titles and achieved a career super slam. He's a fighter, a true warrior, I'm proud of him and now enjoying his wonderful Pro Yuzu era. I checked his score details, only 4Lo was marked underrotated

@@amexred I have just one question do you really think that skating is all about jumps?? For the scores it is yes but honestly who really watches ice skating for the jumps?? Yuzuru himself said that, ice skating isn’t really skating, it’s dancing and if you can‘t get his meaning behind choosing this traditional sounding music piece with that he himself wanted to portray the feeling of nature, then I can’t help you.

@@shiiyamine8006 no it’s not all about jumps . An error or multiple errors are still errors though and it doesn’t make this beautifully executed . Certainly not memorable for me . He may love that music piece but he can pick better and more engaging ones . Shute even the choreography has nothing that grabs you . Legend yes . Still bland performance , mos def
