I've had one of these Golfs in the TDI version for the last 5 years. It's been an excellent car, and I probably won't give it up soon. The review was spot on!

VW does make reliable cars, just not the cheapest to maintain. the wife just picked up a 2017 base golf, cant belive how great of a value that car is. this is the family's 4th VW. 96 Golf, 97 Jetta GLX, 2009 Rabbit and 2017 Golf. Awesome cars. Great review

The review was spot-on. One of the best cars in its category. I would add the paddle shifters in the SE are nice and give you the fun factor when you want it. The transmission can seem a little wonky at times.

I have this exact car..only in red. I LOVE it!.. I bought it almost two years ago and have never had a problem. This is my 10th Volkswagen! I have owned only one VW that gave me problems...( 2005 Beetle). Other than that...none. Love VWs!

How come Volkswagens are cheaper in the USA but mustangs are 3x the price in Europe? Good review!

First, thank you for the kind words, Madern. We truly appreciate it. With regards to the various vehicle pricing in different countries, we honestly can't say why a Volkswagen in the U.S. might be cheaper than a Mustang in Europe. We can assume that it might be based on infrastructure and volume, but that would just be a guess. It could also be the fact that the Mustang is brand new in Europe, whereas Volkswagens have been in the States for decades. Again, these are only guesses. We appreciate your support. Thanks for watching!

I think this is the top car in this class, however VW's quality issue is a deal killer for myself and most buyers. It's really a damn shame that VW has not addressed this issue, like Hyundai/Kia did all those years ago. This is good to lease and then dump it as soon as the warranty expires. I also drove the GTI for a couple of days and fell in love with its driving dynamics

While we cannot comment on reliability, as a new car purchase, the Golf is a wonderful driving car. We appreciate you, pedro fernandez. Thanks for watching!

I completely agree. I am the proud 'leasee' of a 2015 VV Golf and have had a number of issues with it. The express power windows 'express' when the car is in the mood (or not in the mood); when the car is on an incline with the nose facing forward, the car continuously lurches forward as if it is trying to get the brakes to let go; I had a transmission error that required the dealer to re-set the transmission; factory recall on the suction pump; replaced the rear washer nozzle that was leaking fluid the window constantly; and lastly had to replace the front rotors at the 40,000km mark. Although I love driving this car, I may go back to a Japanese brand when my lease is up.

I’ve seen someone’s 2015 GTI with over 105k Miles all he did to the car was just oil changes and spark plugs
