Thank you. I'm not sure I understand correctly: you are talking about the loop at the end of the boom

@@gisskerrykeleren3614 Yes. I have a lugsail. If you don't tie the clew (back bottom corner) of the sail down to the boom then when you slacken the outhaul to adjust the tension on the foot of the sail, the boom just droops and can bop you on the head. I found out the hard way.

@@mikefule330 Ah OK, on the red boat! ... yes, I don't know why he hadn't put a fixation on his sail. Good observation, I will tell him! By cons its small loop is not used for that but to hang the end of a flag. Happy New Year !

@@gisskerrykeleren3614 On my balanced lug, I fly my flag near the top of the leach. I made a 3 legged bridle. A short length of line from the top of the flag goes to the eyelet at the peak of the sail. Two longer legs go from the bottom of the flag, one each side of the sail, and join each other through one of the eyelets for lacing the sail to the yard, about half way along the yard. Before that, I had a line down from the flag to the clew and every time I lowered the sail, the flag went overboard and the line got tangled! Happy sailing and happy new year.

@@mikefule330 Sorry, I am not good at English so I have a little trouble understanding, thank you Google Translate! (with a photo it would be easier ...). On the other hand, I also confirm that each time the sail descends, the flag goes overboard ... LOL !!!
