If it's at the dealership with a tech that has done many of these I wouldn't be too worried.

Great video! Let's say the Honda dealer drained the AC refrigerant and did not refill it. Would driving it ruin the AC compressor. I had this done on my 2019 Honda Ridgeline last week, and they gave it back to me with a broken A/C compressor. Thanks in advance! 👏

If the system is empty and has nothing in it the compressor won't run. How did they break it? Internally or externally? Did they leave a line open to atmosphere?

@@theoffroadingmechanic Thank you for the quick reply!👏 I dropped it off under warranty because of a bad torque converter. 2019 Ridgeline 66,000K miles. It was at the dealer for 4 weeks. AC was golden prior. No issues. I picked it up, and it was 100 degrees out. Drove it for 20 minutes and returned it to the dealer as the AC blew hot air. The next day, they called and said they didn't touch the compressor and that it was shot and needed to be replaced. Currently truck is at the dealer as the manager decides what to do. Thank you! 👍

one day this engineer is going to teach new engineers how to change tires on EVs, and during charging breaks he will tell stories about mythical internal combustion engines and how crazy they are to fix

How did you end up separating the passenger side axle from the half shaft bracket ?We usually break the bracket it for it to pop out .
@theoffroadingmechanic

I just soak it in a bunch of penetrating fluid and I just work it back and forth in the bracket with a punch and hammer and then use the lobes to keep tapping it out. Dunno why they couldn't make it like the others where you can separate the half shaft.

Doing it the first time you might be figuring a few things out and it might take you a bit longer but once you're used to it, it can come out in around 2 hrs.

Just had my torque converter go bad on my 2014 Odyssey at 81,000 miles. $4600 to replace at dealership. Inflation I guess

For torque converter shudder? They came out with a tsb and a warranty extension for the 6 speed 2016 and up pilot and the ridgelines for the torque converter clutch plate cracking I guess from heat and it loses fluid pressure from engaging.

I had it serviced under warranty at 59K miles for this exact issue, maybe they should have done more than a fluid change for the issue

Yes! Engine and subframe together service manual says remove subframe and then drop Engine and trans. No sense
@theoffroadingmechanic

Yup if it goes in on the subframe at the factory it can come out on the subframe.

Wow, Honda still programming the transmission to lock the torque converter at lower speeds?! I thought they learned their lesson years ago smh.

Just the 6 speed. They were still using them in the early models but have phased them out in the later models.
