Great video it adds my knowledge how the lane keep assist/ auto brake assist and adoptive cruise control works as I'm about buying a Mazda car in a very near future. Thanks for the demo.

Hello Joshua. Thanks for this video. I decided to buy Mazda 6 Wagon 2.5i 3 months ago. Of course, I had a chance to test the car before paying a deposit. But I wasn't sure how this system works. Since I have to wait another 2 months, I'm happy to see it's quite ok. :) Btw, regarding the road noise, Mazda 6 the 2017 model is definitely better in comparison to the 2016 model. The 2017 model has stronger side and front windows, a better sound proofing material and so on.

Can you make a video of the ACC on a manual? A few forums say you can shift gears and stuff without touching the gas, I'd like to see how it reacts coming to a complete stop and if it'll start back up again.

Thank you for the video. Do you feel the 2017 model has less road noise ? On my test drive of 2016 I found it pretty noisy on highways.

I will check for you first thing Monday and reply. Are you referring to road noise coming into the cabin at a cruising speed? Or the engine noise while accelerating? Thanks for the question and for watching the video!

Joshua McCaffrey Both. I heard they made the sound proofing better. I have a test drive scheduled next weekend but never hurts to ask some one who owns it. Thank you.

Ok, will let you know on both accounts. I personally love the exhaust note on the 2014 and newer. much throatier and deeper sounding. instead of tin-canny. Will update on Monday afternoon for you on both models. 16 & 17

I did not notice any difference between the 2016 & 2017 interior noise-wise.

Does the images ( MPH/ CRUISE ) in the HUD keep blinking like that OR is this a camera thing were seeing in the video ? Maybe it blinks like this when adaptive cruise control is activated ? Any info is much appreciated !!
@shockcity23

it's only blinking due to the low frame rate of the camera recording it. When you drive it is a constant image. no flashing at all. thanks for asking!

Thanks for the response ! Question: Will the car Stop and Go in rush-hour traffic (bumper to bumper) autonomously (no driver input) with these pre configured settings in Mazda's adaptive cruise control ? Thanks

Lew, it would stop on it's own, but it would jolt you to a halt with some significant force. The Smart City Brake Support (from 2-18 mph) will do what is equivalent to slamming on the brakes to avoid a collision. The 'Heads Up Display' would be yelling at you to 'BRAKE' just before it would kick in, as it did with me in the end of the video when it slowed me down to 6 mph and then yelled at me for not taking over sooner.

The SCARY thing with all this new technology is what happens to your wallet when these items (options) fail to work out of warranty !! OUCH !! On a good note ! I have a 2011 Mazda 6 currently with no issues whatsoever 100,00 KMS !

Whats that display that's blinking? Is it another monitor?

Heads up display is what it’s called here in Australia. It’s blinking because the camera picks it up but it’s constant in real life.

nice video. did you hit the brakes at the end of the video or the car stoped you completely?
@shockcity23

Yes, right at the 2:32 mark(the very end when 'brake' flashed on the HUD). I wasn't going to chance it.

it will between 2-18 mph. I've tested it. it's also supposed to work from 40 mph and higher while using Adaptive Cruise Control (but I haven't tested that, for obvious reason)

For info (I just googled myself so might help someone else) - most of what's shown in this video is part of the "optional safety pack" on the Sports Nav models (in the UK, anyway). It's an extra £800 (at time of writing). See www.mazda.co.uk/cars/mazda6-tourer/features/safety/

Im pretty sure my Mazda 2017 is 1 mph faster than what the car reads and this is by comparing it to my portable gps. I called Mazda support and they said under manufacture specs the car is allowed to read up to a 5 mph difference than what the car is actually going. This sounds bad to me.
@shockcity23
8 жыл бұрын
agreed. how fast were you going and what did the GPS say?
@clumzyone6011

Its always 1 mph faster for me at any speed. I noticed it when I was on the freeway going 75 on cruise control and my gps read 76. So I tried it at different speeds.
@MrLew1965

Yup, and the speedometer error can be even more then +1 MPH that you stated as well !! There's lots of factors at play when your comparing GPS speed and actual vehicle speed ! Here's a good read ! www.theglobeandmail.com/globe-drive/culture/commuting/whats-more-accurate-the-cars-speedo-or-the-gps/article4348596/

All cars will differ in what the gauge reads for mph. Its hard to calibrate them all to exactly the same. Your gps is probably more accurate. But tbh 1mph is negligible so is 5mph

I strongly dislike these 'Babysitter' settings. They are largely marketing fluff. I like engaged driving and I definitely don't want to be slowed down by some robot gimmick. I like to use my brain and sharpen my alertness.
