For today's unboxing review we have for you the 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLA250 4Matic, meaning it's the all-wheel drive model. Revealed back in 2013, the GLA-Class is, at its core, the overseas only A-Class hatchback. In the US, that model has been restyled as a four-door coupe, the CLA-Class. But if you're looking for something that's as close to the A-Class as possible (meaning you want a hatchback and not a sedan), the GLA is the answer. In fact, the only significant different between the A- and GLA-Class is ride height. For its part, the GLA-Class really doesn't even have a tall ride height, almost feeling like you're driving a regular car. We happen to think that's a good thing because the GLA is fun to drive.
Power comes courtesy of a turbocharged inline-four with 208 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque, with power going to all four wheels (front-wheel-drive is standard) through a 7-speed automatic transmission. Our tester came nicely equipped. Called the Nightfall Edition (an extra $6,330), this package combines a lot of nice features into one for the money. But the bottom line here is that the GLA2504Matic is, at its core, more of a sporty hatchback than a crossover. Enjoy the review!
