It's the only one that still looks like a truck in the segment, it has the most gas torque available in the segment, and it's been out long enough that it's rock solid dependable with no bugs or kinks to work out. Just bought a 2017 Nissan frontier pro 4x with 15800 miles and I freaking love this truck. I drove it down from New York to North Carolina averaging 16.8 MPG on the highway going 75 mph. Not that great. But fast forward 1 month later I installed a volant cold air intake and I took it back up north to Boston this time and I am averaging 19.3 MPG on the highway at 75 mph. 2 miles mpg better. Love this truck and I am keep this thing till the wheels fall off. Thanks for the review of how this thing tows.

I'm not a Nissan guy but, I like these Frontiers. They seem solid and reliable. The 4.0L is a great engine and I wish Toyota had kept it in the Tacoma and just tweaked it. I'm not sure what's up with the "dated" comments on all these trucks. It's as if most folks expect a completely new interior every year now. I like familiarity with my vehicles and improvements are one thing; change for just the sake of change is another. I'm paying for function over form. Funny how this "dated" truck did as well as any other new designed truck. Seems people equate ALL change as good. Not so.

Steering and handling 0-2. Comfort, ergonomics, use of materials 0-2. Overall styling 0-2. Value 0-2. That's ten points. Change the other three to 30 points each. That makes it more fact based, less opinion based and the opinion has a worksheet so you have the number in-hand which you can discuss your thoughts on the five sections. You can't give a fair mpg rating if the outside temperature isn't close on all the vehicles. I get a 10+ Mpg difference from winter and summer. I live in cold Michigan like you live in cold Colorado. I bet if you had done this test in the summer the mpg would have been 6+

I don't think those are bad trucks, in fact I really like that motor, but gawd, that interior. Buying one of those is like buying a brand new ten year old truck.

Hi This might be a long shot but I was just wondering what fuel economy would be for crossover vehicle since they tow roughly about 5,000 pound most of the competitor and the new engine with more power and torque might be a nice ike gaunlet run that would be nice to do. for example Highlander, Pathfinder, Explorer, Pilot, Traverse, Sorento, Santa Fe

Hey guys, if you could get in the US the V6 VW Amarok TDI and the 5 cylinder diesel Ford Ranger, which one do you think would be the best option?

Frontier falls apart after 100k / 10years. To date, we've spent over $6k on: replaced the engine - oil pump failure (and there is NO indash indicator of oil pressure / oil level?! you're suppose to check your oil every fill-up at the pump :) replaced failed distributor replaced failed starter (OK this isn't that bad but annoying when you're stuck in someone's driveway) replaced fuel tank replaced ABS brake sensors replaced timing belt (this is expected per the owner's manual BUT what they don't tell you is b/c of the layout 2 mechanics said it was simpler to replace the whole damn water pump at the same time) The tranny slips now b/w 3rd and 4th so it's going to go bust soon.

The 2nd gen frontier has no distributor. Your vehicle is over 15 years old, stuff is going to start to break on it.

This one has a $2100 option package and $800 moonroof. Yours is probably not optioned, but still a great price.

What do you guys think about just linking to a "how to score" video in the description rather than explaining each time- it gets a little repetitive.

It's an actual work truck, instead of a blitzed out SUV wannabe with chromed out agressive front ends and more electronics then an apple store. It's simple, boxy, practical, and old fashioned.

Matthew Sanchez: it's a clean and classy design, and not overstyled too much like the Honda Ridgeline and Chevy Colorado pickup trucks are, which makes it age alot better. look how overstyled the new Honda Civic is, and i can already tell that it's not gonna age as good as the previous generation Civic and the one before that. the only new Honda i like is the redesign CRV and the Honda Fit. im also a fan of the last generation Accord alot more than the new one. now for the Tacoma i have to say that i preferred the grill on the previous generation Tacoma along with the 4.0L v6 instead of the 3.5L v6. it's still a good truck, but this Nissan Frontier is the only midsized truck i would take over the Tacoma. now if Toyota had kept the 4.0L V6, the Tacoma would be my top choice. i understand why they switched to the 3.5, but to me a truck needs to be a truck.
