For today's unboxing review we bring you the car that proved it's possible for there to be an affordable EV with decent driving range, the Nissan Leaf. Launched back in 2010, it's since gone on to sell a total of 230,000 units worldwide and counting. Impressive. Our Leaf, a fully-loaded SL trim equipped with a leather interior and upgraded battery that allows for a 107-mile driving range, did more than impress us. Under the right circumstances (meaning a short commute to work, etc). we'd consider buying one. Unlike, say, a Tesla, the Leaf has a relatively low base price, starting at $29,000, but that's before a $7,500 US government tax credit. Several states offer additional tax incentives, too.
What else do we like about the Leaf? For starters, its five-door hatchback body style allows for it to be a suitable family car when necessary, and its dashboard design is, dare we say it, stylish. No joke. Bottom line is if you're looking for an EV that won't break the bank and is built by a reliable automaker, then the Nissan Leaf is a solid buy. Enjoy the review!
