Tech tip: Don’t torque the bottom shock bolt down until the truck is back on its own weight. It will cause the rubber to be destroyed (over twisted ) when in use because the bolt sleeve doesn’t move independently of the molded in place rubber. Good video

Yup yup yup. The Bill 6112's and 5160's are amazing! For the cost I do not feel they can be beat! I have had mine for about 8 months and they have held up great. The ride is firm in a controllable way inspiring confidence on the trails and on the highway. Overall it does simulate the feeling of what I would guess floating on clouds feels like. Being the driver I do not feel hard hits or bottoming out from this suspension. The rebound after compression is smooth and predictable. If you are looking to upgrade your Taco's suspension and you have a lower budget to work with I would strongly recommend the Bilstein 6112 for the front end and the 5160 for the rear end. Word to the wise or maybe that is from the wise. If you choose to max out the snap ring setting you will not get the soft plush ride I described. I have not done this myself however I have read many complaints on TW and T3G about this issue. I have mine set at the 5/4 snap ring position and the ride quality is incredible!

@@banksmichael4 On my truck I have the 265/75R16 General ATX on Method's. So mine are 31.5in thereabouts. From what I understand with stock suspension even you can get 33in "pizzacutter" tires in there without rubbing. So that would be 255/85R16 (33in) running the stock rim. You can fit those 33in tires with no cab mount chop and no trimming or very little trimming of the plastics around that area. With setting 4/3 like you are looking at which would be higher that stock by a bit the 255/85R16's should work for you just fine.

The 1in spacer doesn't give you any compression, just gives you height. So you're running the 600lb spring at the maximum preload setting, which prolly put you at 2.5in over stock, then put the extra 1in on top. That spacer helps with clearing tires, but it won't do anything to help out with bottoming out :(*. It also puts extra stress on your CVs because at full droop your LCA is dropping out an inch lower than it did with just the bilsteins on her. But, whatevs 🤣
@lukestoyz
4 жыл бұрын
Beitzel the extra 1” of drop isn’t a problem if you have a diff drop kit installed.
@FatBat5k
4 жыл бұрын
@@lukestoyz well, you've got to consider the fact that the bilsteins already add about 1in of droop because they're "mid travel" shocks with aftermarket UCAs... but I think Dustin carries spare CVs, so if he blows one he can get off the trail. I was going to say to Dustin, you should do another video of your front suspension cycling and watch your bump stop. I dunno if you ever lowered it, but you need to make sure the shock/springs aren't the upper limit, that the bump is doing its job 😉

He calls it "taco lean" but my experience all truck groups call it somethibg else. The gas tank is located on one side, which is why trucks lean a little bit to one side(worse on full tank). Honestly it's just aesthetic and doesn't do anything performance wise
