My next stop during the train watching trip in Ohio over Labor Day weekend was Deshler, OH, about a 40 minute drive from Wauseon. Deshler may be a small town but railroad-wise it's a major hotspot where two busy CSX mainlines (both former B&O) cross each other at grade. The B&O signals on the Toledo Sub in town were still there with no sign of replacements yet, so it was nice to see that.
There was a lot of mainline transition traffic (where trains use the wye tracks to go from one mainline to another) to begin with followed by over-diamond as the day wore on. Power-wise, it wasn't bad at all. Since CSX is a GE-heavy company, EMD leaders are not frequently seen (and there was quite a bit of that during the day). I will start with mixed freight CSX Q342 pulled by two SD40-3's (nicknamed "Spongebob"), which was pretty nice to see. Foreign power joined the fray around 10 AM with coal drag CSX U610 with CP & BNSF ES44AC's in the mix to begin with. UP 70AH led intermodal CSX Q148 by. I think one of the highlights for this trip was intermodal CSX Q166 with a CP SD30C-ECO on the point.
Anyway, train action continues on the second half video.
Also, since there were work limits in town, some trains on the Willard Sub (double track main) were not going as fast.
*Note: I'm really really NOT GOOD w/ train symbols. I try to get as many as I can through my scanner or asking other railfans around me (if any).*
