One more question regarding the high pressure fuel pump, does the pump have to be pulled out for the camshaft installation or can it stay in?

Thanks a bunch for that video,i was looking for some pictures behind that timing chain cover. That wire that is on the timing chain cover is leaking oil and creating P06DD code on my Sierra 2014 AllTerrain with only 90.000KM on it. When i clean it with brake cleaner and the connector that goes on it,Everything goes back to normal for about 20 minutes until oil goes back up in there. Gm screwed big time with this wire,lots of people are having problems with that. You got my sub for this one,thanks again.

How do you set the time on this thing before pulling the cam out
@n5yiz

Line the marks up on the timing set before pulling the cam. You can also make your own marks with paint.

Are you placing the dowel rods in the small open area above the timing chain. And how solid is that as a way of keeping from having to pull heads. Everyone I speak to says the head have to come off
@n5yiz

Yes, dowels in the oil passages. It's been done that way for 20 years. The people who are telling you to remove the heads don't know what they're talking about. Don't let them touch your engine.

It's been a long time, but the chain is trapped on the crank between the pump and the block, right? I didn't think it was possible for the chain to fall off.

Gotta question on a old video about your ar15 with the masterlock cable. How do the springs hold up with the bolt all the way to the rear over time? I wanna lock up my ar15 in my truck and maybe I'm overthinking this but just wanted to see how that set up held up over time.
@n5yiz

I think your spring will be fine. I had an AR-15 in the back of my safe that was "locked back" for at least five years. Took my kid out to shoot, and it never missed a beat.

Hello, hopefully you can answer my question Well I’m working on a 6.2 L96 and I got to the point of replacing the cam, how did you pry on the tensioner and the retainer, do I have to loose the bolt in the oil pump, do I’m going to need gasket for it, when removing the bolt in the sprocket how did get the chain loose, any tips?
@n5yiz
3 жыл бұрын
You're going to have to lock the tensioner back and "pin" it with a pick or allen key. The original tensioners are very easy to break due to age. I broke one with just barely prying with a screwdriver. I would replace the tensioner simply due to age. I assume you are referring to the oil pickup bolt on the bottom of the pump. You can remove and re-install it with the pan in place. It's not easy, but can be done. Do you need a timing cover gasket? Probably not. You could re-install it with the old gasket and not lose a drop of oil. But what if it leaks? You're pulling the cover again if it does. Same with the pan gasket. It's hard for me to make that call not being my motor/time/skill.
@n5yiz

Make sure your oil pickup tube to pump o-ring is in order. If you replace it, make sure the replacement is the correct size. If you re-use the old one, make sure it's not damaged or pinched during re-install. I would replace it.
