I have a 2018 1.5l Accord EX-L. I have been extremely pleased with the mileage. Earlier in the year I filled the tank in Amarillo, TX. 420 miles later in Las Cruces, NM., I filled the tank again and it took exactly 10 gal. That's a solid 42 MPG. I thought the mileage would be good but it turns out better than expected.

Nice review on a great car. I recently bought a 2018 Accord Hybrid Touring (in Modern Steel), and LOVE it. The engine is smooth, it is plenty powerful when needed (I unintentionally spun the tires pulling out into traffic), the eCVT is smooth and always ready, and this car is quiet. However, I will say that the 47/47/47 mpg rating is not accurate. I got 55.7 mpg city mpg today and average in the HIGH 40s and low 50s when combined. It has so much technology. Everyday I'm learning new things it can do. This is a FANTASTIC car. Great looks (MANY compliments on the color and the car's looks from friends and strangers), superb quality and a quiet and luxurious ride. And it's a FUN car to drive. I may have to add stabilizer to the gas tank since I go so long before filling up.

I currently daily drive the 1.5L Accord LX, and I make the trip from Houston to Dallas (260 mi) and back once a week. I averaged about 40.8 MPG (equals to 512 miles for a full tank) with cruising around 70-73 mph on the highway. Very impressive considering the size and the power the car has. Although, I have a feeling that the smaller diameter wheels and eco-friendly tires had a part in the higher MPGs as well on the LX trim. I will keep you updated whenever I get the first service for the car done! (currently at 5587miles)
@tyroney2
4 жыл бұрын
Phat Nguyen Yes, the MPG difference is mostly down to the thinner and easier filling tires, not the rim size. In fact the total rim plus tire circumference is probably the same between the LX and the Sport. Also, testers probably have to drive a certain percentage in Sport Mode to accurately rate the Sport version, which lowers mileage a little (and isn’t an option in the LX if I remember correctly). I agree with your cruising speed recommendation. I did an 800 mile road trip through the Rockies twice going there and back, and I probably averaged 75mph, and my average MPG was a little above 37. I was definitely impressed.

I have a 2006 accord value package. Automatic. It's the lightest accord for the year. the 15 inch wheels and tires and hub caps weigh 37 pounds each. Super light. I get 35-40 mpg on the highway. All the time. With the a.c.on, still get 35+. And the a.c. Is amazing. Car has 150kmiles. I bought it for $1000 , from the original owner it needed a bumper and fender. My beater now. It drives amazing, shifts amazing, comfortable interior. I've gotten over 40mpg in town, when there is no traffic. In town, constant stop and go, I get 26+ mpg. Also, it's ok to give it some gas in 1st and 2nd gear, then when you reach your desired cruising speed, you let it go up through the gears. Getting the car into "closed loop" as soon as possible, is the name of the game. Revving out the lower gears, actually lets you save gas, if you understand what the car is really doing.

A one tank calculation is not enough. There are too many variables like: the temperature of the fuel when pumped, was it refilled at the very same fuel pump with the vehicle parked at the exact same angle, it is impossible to know if both fill-ups were filled to precisely the same tank level. An error of just a half gallon will change the calculated MPG by 1.44. You need to track fuel over several thousand miles to get closer to the true usage. By the way, do not top off your tank. You risk messing up some of the emissions devices on the car, mainly the carbon canister getting liquid fuel in it when it is supposed to only have fuel vapors entering it.

Hi.. I am having 2.0t. The FE normally stands at 22mpg on highways if I keep in Eco mode. But on sport mode it reduces below 20mpg. Recently I realised that with Eco mode and very very light foot (gear shifts happen at 2.5k rpm) and not exceeding 70mph the FE on highway went up to 29mpg. So the FE depends largely on the driving style. Frequent breaking , fast acceleration , high speed on highways etc are going to eat fuel.

It's not necessary to "empty a full tank of gas." 1: Fill tank. 2: Drive until low. 3: Fill tank. 4: Divide gallons pumped by miles traveled. The result will be your miles per gallon. Repeat #2-4. Over time, the mpg will settle down, and unless driving habits change, the mpg will remain the same. On our '13 VW Passat TDI, I have calculated every tank since new. Since 5,000 miles (it has 76K now) the mpg has been steady at 41.9. Be interesting to see how much we can get on our new 2.0T Touring.

Leave it to KZitem commenters to claim they’re getting 12,15, 22, and 26MPG from their 2018-19 Accords. 🙄 Over the last 8,500 miles with 60/40 city/highway driving I have averaged 30.0 MPG on my 1.5 Sport. I drive in Eco mode 75% of the time, “regular mode” 20% of the time, and Sport mide about 5%. I have fun with the car for sure, but just here and there. I’m more than happy with an average of 30 MPG. I could probably squeak out 33MPG given my routes, etc., but then it wouldn’t be much fun (and the LX would’ve been a better choice). I drive at about 5,000 miles above sea level, so that might make a small difference.

I usually keep the car in eco and when I need the extra power I go into sport and back to eco for the better gas mileage. I’ve never tested the 1.5 I purchased the 2.0 based on the options I wanted. You will pay extra for the 2.0 but you will not be disappointed in the power.

Did your mpg improve since your last post?
@aymanal_jahwari9148
5 жыл бұрын
If you accelerate very slowly that will not be efficient When you accelerate try to make the rpm between 2 and 3 And when you rech the needed speed then you can let the rpm to go down to 1.8 or what ever

Holy smokes my 18 sport 1.5 only gets: A.) 350ish miles on my Range when I fill up my tank B.) averaging around 25 mpg Just got the car about 1 month ago only got about 1700 miles so far.

That number should rise quickly. Engine break in can slightly lower mpg.

I get the exact same results.357 full tank and 27-29mpgs with mixed driving. When I have the low fuel light on to fill up i don’t know if you have the same problem but 12 gals fills up the car which is weird cause Honda says it’s a 14 gal tank

Could i put 89 gas on the Honda Accord 2018 sport rn am 87 Regular gas ???

Yes, you could put premium if you wanted. Higher octane fuel won't hurt anything.

GarageProjects Do you use 87, 89 or 91? Honestly I'm not sure if paying a little extra is worth the price, since the car only asks for 87.
@ishrink4202

All Honda vehicles require 87 Octane. When you use a higher octane, you’re not getting the correct combustion that the engine is designed for, it also creates more pollution.

Stephanie garcia The Honda guide book says, 87 octane or higher is recommended. Use TOP TIER gasoline where available. It's on page 118 of your owners book. I'm just curious to know what other people use.

@@Xll_DANT3_llX I am not sur about that but i think you are driving below the efficient poin Try to accelerate faster then let the rpm to go down when your speed is almost concestant Sorry for my bad english I hop you got my point

Jeff Wahlund There is a slightly pretentious way of smacking you lips, which camera reviewer Hugh Brownstone (for example) has practically turned into a base art form. This guy isn’t doing this. He’s young, so not as comfortable in front of the camera. (Give it a try yourself, post it, then criticize...) This guy seems like a nice dude, and he’s not exactly charging you for the info in this video... 😆

With gas nearing $3 per gallon and it will go higher, here’s some suggestions to get more mileage, better performance and longer life from your vehicle. 1. Invest in a K&N air filter for your engine, you’ll see a 3% improvement in fuel economy just from replacing the paper filter in your vehicle with the K&N They have a 1 million mile warranty and only need to be cleaned every 50K miles. The K&N cleaning kit is $15. Go to the K&N site to get the correct model for your vehicle. www.knfilters.com You can buy most of them for under $60 2. Use Chevron gasoline exclusively. Why? First, It’s a top-tier gasoline. 2nd, Chrysler, Ford, GM, Honda, Toyota and others collaborated with Chevron back in the 80s to create Techron. Techron is the only gasoline additive that’s been scientifically proven to keep your entire fuel system clean and give you maximum mileage and performance per tank. Also, if your vehicle doesn’t require Premium 93 octane, use Regular 87 octane. That’s over $100 per year in fuel cost savings. 3. Set the cruise control and drive 5 mph slower on the highway, that’s 7% less fuel burn and that equals more money in your pocket and less pain at the pump. If you own a Honda with an Econ button, only use it when you’re on the highway and have your cruise set. It changes the vehicles throttle response and reduces the load from the air conditioning. I can drive 200 miles at 75 mph with Econ on and I only burn a 1/4 tank of gas. 4. Use Valvoline Full Synthetic High Mileage motor oil. Even if your vehicle doesn’t have 75K miles, Valvoline High Mileage Full Synthetic motor oil has more additives in it to keep your engine clean, seals and rings conditioned and protects your engine better than conventional or blended motor oils. Be sure to have it changed every 5K miles. It’s one of the best motor oils you can buy. 5. Use the Mobil 1 Extended Performance Oil Filter $15. It’s the number one rated oil filter on the market. 6. Don’t drive unless necessary.
