The minivan segment has been dying off in the US as buyers shy away from these once universally loved family cars in favor of SUVs. The 2018 Kia Sedona is one of the newer minivans in the segment but it trails behind in a few key areas.
A facelifted 2019 model should improve most of the Sedona's shortcomings but it sadly wasn't available in time for this review. As it sits, the 2018 Sedona is still a great value in the minivan market and is filled with delightful features that a family will enjoy.
Power comes from a 3.3-liter V6 producing 276 horsepower going out through a six-speed automatic transmission. A smoother eight-speed in on its way for 2019. We adored our SX-L trim's optional Prestige rear seats, which can slide and recline. After a week of driving the Sedona, we seriously questioned why anyone still chooses to buy an SUV.
