They almost hit it out of the park with this one. I'm SO TIRED of FOUR DOOR sports cars. This car is beautiful but it would be awesome if they made the sport model TWO DOOR not four door. I love that it's a REAR WHEEL DRIVE. To me a front wheel drive car is not a sports car, it's a grocery getter. Yeah they make fast front wheel drive cars but racing one with a front wheel drive and the smoke flying off of the front tires just looks silly. I'm use to rear wheel drive chewing away at the REAR TIRES not the fronts. Kia makes a quality car and they're moving up. Expect more from this company.

I just noticed on the Kia website that you can now order the 2019 base 2.0L Stinger in Snow White Pearl paint with a light grey leather interior. On the 2018 model you can only get black interiors. I hate black interiors and hate car companies that only offer coffins on wheels. Kia should have the light colored interior available on all models and with all exterior colors. Not all of us are vampires who like to sleep and drive in coffins. Some of us do love light and do not wish to hide in the darkness. Downside is that it only comes in Sport trim - which is below EX trim. Not cool. This is a huge downgrade for those who had the EX-L V6 manual versions before. Also, the manual turbo trim is slower than the old V6 because boost is released on the shifts vs continous with the auto, and the less gearing available. For this reason, many current owners of the V6 manual are not going to purchase a future 2.0t manual because they don't want bother a slower car and one with less features.

Honeslty, I would not touch that BMW unless it were a short term lease. I've had way too many friends with 3 series's break down, have to be put in the shop, and it would cost thousands each time. The interior pieces on a 328i in particular also fell apart, like pop out cupholder got stuck, etc. Like, what the hell, is that supposed to happen on a $38k car? Is that healthy at all for her finances? All right, they handle pretty well, but I personally don't find that worth the hassle and heartbreak.

This is why I like Kia. Great value if you’re not a brand snob. I’m in the market for a fun-to-drive RWD car and was looking at a BMW 320i. Now the stinger is high on my list except I wish it had a manual option. Great value in feature content. Heck, on the BMW Apple CarPlay is an additional $300 option even if you get the navigation system?! Kia is becoming a sleeper brand.

Alex did you notice any trim differences? Kia mentions additional soft touch trim once you get to GT1 trim

$40k? For the top of the line? 3-4 years it'll be $20k.... Yeah no way.

Alex, how would you compare this to the Lexus IS200t, keeping in mind that they're not direct competitors?

Good question.

This is bigger, has a hatch, will be a quicker., and has a better infotainment system. The Lexus will cost more but hold its value better.

Only difference if you ask me is the Lexus has a solid reliability record. The Stinger may be just as good, but it's a newer car so the resale value over the next couple years won't be as high. If you never plan on selling it, I see no reason why you wouldn't opt for the Stinger. Beautifully-crafted vehicle.

I have an IS 300 F Sport AWD as my daily, and from where I am sitting this car seems really impressive. For basically $6k less than a base IS 300 AWD, you can have similar performance and features. Now since mine is the F Sport it has a handful of things that this one doesn't, such as ventilated seats, blind spot monitoring/rear cross-traffic alert, and a factory nav system, but the base Stinger has almost as many features as my somewhat loaded IS 300 (I am just missing out on the Mark Levinson Audio, but I have pretty much everything else). Not to mention, this has Carplay and Android Auto, whereas with Lexus, you have their admittedly behind-the-times system. TBH the GT looks pretty appealing as a replacement for my IS right now. What's kinda crazy is that the base GT will most likely have all the same features as my car for less money, all while being much faster. Of course my lease won't be up for a couple of years, so we'll see how things go.

ARentz07 I'd highly suggest it. I'm thinking of cutting my ownership short of my q60rs for this due to price and higher warranty. Honestly it's this or a Genesis g70 3.3tt. I'm amazed and genesis and Kia for making these cars. Just shows so much development. My q60 was 60k and this is just as fast and better equipped than my car for 45-50k. Hell all my options would be in the gt1 trim and even a few I don't have. Amazing car

Its a beautiful car, but those little strips of dud tail light that streak into the rear quarter panel are ugly. They detract from the beautiful design.

BMW pure rubbish. It's disposable, only good up to about 50k miles

Awesome review! I am surprised that the base model isn't stripped down. Kia is doing something good! I really consider buying a stinger. Especially that 3.3tt gt/gt1/gt2. Very attractive price and more importantly the overall quality in the car. Performance and LOOKS are 10/10 =D

FWIW the 2.0T G70 is also a great car. The stinger is just more practical.
