Very informative! If you have any info on a set up to share on a Rzr 1000-4 highlifter to help keep the belt slips down would be much appreciated! I have put clutch springs in only, but still smoked it,

I don't for that setup, but it sounds like you may need to check on a different clutch kit. Basically, it sounds like you need more tension on the primary AND secondary spring, in effect pulling the belt tighter between the clutches.

Thanks TW, very helpful!. I have a kit and EBS lockout shim on the way. One question: When removing/installing the primary clutch for the EBS lockout shim install do I need a drive clutch holding tool? Is there a shortcut or common method you can suggest when loosening/torquing the T-60?
@Longslyde1
4 жыл бұрын
No tool needed to remove the clutch outer sheave to install the shim. To remove the t60, I use an impact but make sure the bit is inserted all the way and flat. To reinstall, I use a bar inserted through the clutch but make sure you dont bind on any moving parts. Gently take it to torque and you should be golden!

I wish you would have showed how you re installed the clutch did you put the entire clutch together on the bench and the slide on to the splines
@Longslyde1

The inner sheave stays on the machine and the outer section slide right off and back on as an assembly once you remove the center bolt. Or you can just take the cover off on the machine if you like. There no one "right" what really. Just what works best for you.

On the secondary clutch is there marks on it to keep the two piece aligned when being reinstalled?

I am on the road so going from memory. Verify with manual for your particular machine. But it should be about 96ft/lbs on the primary clutch, 40ft/lbs on the secondary, and 100 IN/lbs on the smaller cover bolts on the primary clutch.

Just bought a 2018 and it seems like I can hear that bushing spinning or something in the clutch making noise at low speeds (under 20 and barely in the throttle) in high and inconsistently when letting off the gas. Any comments or experiences with that?
@Longslyde1
6 жыл бұрын
Ben Johnston if it is the one way bearing, the only time you should hear it is at low speed engine almost at idle so the belt is tight enough to contact the bearing. And it shouldn't be "loud". It is possible you're just hearing that but it should only be noticeable when coasting (where the secondary want to spin faster than the primary).

Great video TW, ordered this kit from Terry already, what clutch kit did you put on this machine? Also did you change out for a new more durable belt? Thanks
@Longslyde1
4 жыл бұрын
I used Terry's weights and primary spring only. I also put the limiter ring in to reduce the engine braking effect. Add for the belt, I have not changed that. Im sure there are some good belts out there, but that factory ones have held up fine for me so I haven't tried any of them.

How much of a difference at take off does the lighter weights make? I am not impressed with the clutch engagement jerkiness at all from the factory
@Longslyde1
6 жыл бұрын
Owens Ag Solutions Much more controllable. Not nearly as violent engagement. In work mode I actually feel a ton more comfortable backing up to a trailer and not as worried I'm just going to pile-drive it. Lol. I'm sure the clutch kit manufacturers will have some options soon for better and softer engagment.

I believe the 2018 had the newer clutches. Basic principles still apply though. You just may need different springs and weights than what I used.

It is a very good idea to do so. Also, make sure the threads are cleaned out prior to assembly. I usually use brake cleaner to spray then out.

Steven Zantjer yea this is 1000. But Gilomen innovations has a kit for the 900. So call him on that. The clutch will probably be the old style so it wont look exactly like this...

@Longslyde1

Not necessarily harder, just not as convenient. You "can" change the weights without pulling the clutch, but it is easier if you pull it and work on it on a bench. You can purchase a puller ahead of time to make short work of putting in the weights. :)

So how did it affect the machine?
@Longslyde1
6 жыл бұрын
Standard and work modes remain unaffected. Performance mode goes to 100HP like the General. Revs to about 77-7800 rpms under full throttle with the clutch weights and spring. sets you in the seat really well. Will hit 70mph really quick even with cab and doors on. Hit 80mph tonight running on asphalt and that's about where it tops out at best. Definitely worth the investment! It really acts a lot like the General in performance mode, and still gives you the option to use standard and work modes for work use...
@FishWhistle.

TW Kustoms I’m guessing the machine is more prone to having problems since the limiters are removed. Or am I wrong?
@Longslyde1
6 жыл бұрын
If you thrash the machine, I'm sure you could wreck things. But you could on a stock machine too really. the components used in the Ranger don't really vary much from the General. Then General is 100HP factory. I'm confident it will be just as reliable as long as you use a little common sense of course...

Matt B. I did not write the weights down. The weights would have to be paired with the spring to operate the same since I changed that too. You could call Gilomen Innovations, Terry will have the answers for ya!
