Very comprehensive video, you covered the brake service in great detail, easy to follow along. Could you recommend a Caliper Compression Tool that you like, there are so many to choose from. Thanks

Great video man. I’ve changed brakes a dozen or so times in the past… I’ve missed things that weren’t covered in other videos.

So I bought new rotors and brake pads from dealer right… and did everything as you did.. can you say why my steering wheel shakes after doing the brakes when braking at high speed?

What size screws help to push off the rotor
@stever.9925

I got two screws from Home Depot, in tbeir special hardware drawers. M8 x 1.25 mine is 1 3/4" long. Get two so you can quickly alternately tighten then, till the rotor releases.

Flat head screwdriver pry in between rotor and pad pull screwdriver toward you..or if everything is lubed well you can apply steady pulling pressure on the caliper toward you while its still attached to bracket the piston should slide in smoothly

If you’re just changing pads do you also need to bleed brakes?
@GEARMOAUTO

No

You only bleed brakes if it’s time for a maintenance flush of your brake fluid or if you replaced your brake caliper

What happens if the pad wear clips were installed backwards? Also noticed the pads on the rt. front (passenger side) were worn about 30% more. One was very close to meatal to meatal. What could have caused this? As pass. side pads are wearing much faster I installed the wear clips on that wheel only. Installed Ackabono (spelling likely off) pads.

It's actually quite normal for the passenger side to wear more than the driver side.

Are the little metal clips used on the brake pad's necessary or can you go without them
@macker0077
9 ай бұрын
The hardware clips on the caliper bracket are necessary, but the two squealer clips are not really needed. Just make sure you check your pad wear periodically. I just changed the pads and rotors on my daughters 18 RAV4 and didn't put them on. I"ll also mention that the aftermarket pads I bought for the job didn't have the metal shim plates like the OEM pads do, but no issues have arisen since installing them. I did put some brake lube grease (synthetic) on the backs of the pads.
