Would Tim please stop saying “Ragan would have beaten Morgan had she not been injured”?! And Ragan would never have even been national champion if Simone had not taken time off. Repeatedly saying Morgan only won because Ragan was out is incredibly rude and trivializes Morgan’s win.
@nnenne4

Thank you, because in reality anything could happen on competition day. Anyone could have fallen off the beam, the bars, gone out of bounds on the floor, never assume anything. Look at what happened to Jordyn Weiber in London, I don't like the commentary on Ragan, they're just living in the past.
@youngcontrarian8532

Well he's not entirely wrong. Raegan was def the stronger gymnast of the two and was more favored to win. On the other hand Mai Murakami did qualify in first so she could have beaten both of them but I do agree with u that he shouldn't take away from her win. In this sport anything can happen on competition day.
@LisaForTruth

Yeah, but Morgan worked hard for that win; to say she was our "second best" when she is THE world champion is not fair to Morgan. And stop blaming Simone for others being compared to her; she's not the one doing the comparing

Um am I the only one that realizes how Jade was totally underscored and is underrated ? Her beam was clean , fluid and strong. Form very well executed. And her floor was so powerful , a few landings were a tiny bit shaky but again her difficulty is a lot higher than most except Simone of course. I think she shows poise and confidence in a calm understated way. She’s not even peaking yet . Hope she stays on this great path.
@mjamitche5245

IDK about floor because I noticed Jade's double turn did not get right round, and her split jumps and leaps are not 180 degrees. Also her tumbling technique is not perfect. For example, very few of these girls besides Simone actually do back handsprings with straight knees and legs tight together. But, I agree with you regarding beam. Jade was low balled on her beam score compared to other girls.

Elbow -ing I agree. But exactly how on earth did Komova give up on her beautiful bars ? Her shaky but ok BB, and her marvelous FX routine? Didn't give up till EF. To the rest, quit trying to bring false delusional pasts to make Simone seem good. Simone is dominant because of her power and difficulty, but really anyone can work hard, REALLY HARD for that. But few can be aesthetically pleasing, powerful ,and interesting.

Some people may think other sports are hard, but they don’t know the strength and pain that goes into gymnastics. I am personally a gymnast and I have gotten many minor injuries and have gotten close to major injuries many times as well. Some of my friends think that I just go to practice and meets and think they like “ oh, just go, it’s not that hard. Just do it.” Ok, well they don’t know that we have to go put tape on our knees, or shoulders, or elbows, or ankles. People who play other sports don’t have to stretch as much as us. Or only have one chance to get there score, no other chances. Or have to condition as much as us to get our strength and flexibility to do the skills we do. So people who think gymnastics isn’t that hard, think again and have you ever tried a split.

She was really good, but I still don’t see- to this day- how she ended up being the traveling alternate for those worlds. She was so inconsistent here, both days and proved that ankle was a major hindrance. She would not have filled a gap well on that world team.

It’s funny watching all these gymnasts doing wolf turns, I am a fan of Whitney Bjerken (youtuber and aspiring gymnast) and I personally think her wolf turns look prettier than many of the wolf turns these elite gymnasts do. Here lines are beautiful and her wolf turns are soooo fast. One reason I think her wolf turns are so pretty is because of her elbow injury, for a long time she’s only been able to train certain skills (skills that don’t use arms) and a wolf turn was one of them.
