I've been eyeing similar version but w/o disc and Di2 for only €2200. Canyon released so much bike for the buck in this 2019 collection. And that cockpit is just so freaking fitting makes me moist. RoseBikes also in the game, but at least this year canyon wins for sure.

I like it too. It places Di2 control block inside it. It looks much prettier and protects from outside dirt.

That's an amazing price. But if you can save a bit more money I would suggest going with hydraulic disc brakes from Shimano. Once when you try disc brakes there is no way back to rim brakes. Let's see what Rose does soon.

Rim brake version is awesome for 2019, with new frame (same as SLX), 6.9kg with full Ultegra and for 2200 euros.

Before you buy it with rim brakes, please do a test ride on a similar bike with Shimano hydraulic disc brakes (unless you go to Germany to HQ of Canyon and test it). To have a feeling about the power and modulation of disc brakes.

Do you think are carbon wheels worth additional 1300 euros? It looks more sexy sure, but +30% to the price is quite confusing for me. Or is it better to look at Aeroad for the similar price in this case?

I wouldn't bother with carbon wheels for now. You can always upgrade later to a good pair of carbon wheels if you wish.

I am waiting the Ultimate CF SL 8.0 of 2019 series. It´s my first carbon bike. I can´t wait to ride it. I saw your preference in disc brakes and quality of braking. I prefered the rim brakes again trying to save 400 grams give or take. They say that there is no actual difference. But i know that carying half a kilo for 200 km its a lot of waisted energy. Am i wrong?

Well, I am biased to disc brakes because I have been using Shimano disc brakes on XC mountain bikes from around the year 2002. Braking performance of disc brakes in wet is so much more superior to rim brakes, and there is no problem with overheating.

@Kyle I don't have to be good or bad. Carying half a kilo for 200 km is equal in energy waste as to cary 200.000 kilos gor half a meter. Taking weight out of the bike simply carries me further. Save energy, manage a little further away. To put it with numbers. If with same energy and a bike of 7.5 kilos i can do 200 km with 27 km per hour with a bike of 7 i can do 230 km. Thats a great difference.

I would honestly forget about saving 400g on brakes. If you take another bottle of water on your trip it's easily 500g. Before buying rim brakes go to any local bike shop and try to ride a bike with hydraulic Shimano disc brakes. You might change your mind :)

@@ΑντωνηςΜπουμπας-θ6κ weight affects you only while climbing. On flat, you aren't able to feel a few grams on non rotating parts. Secondly, disc brakes allow manufacturers to produce lighter wheels as they don't have to strengthen braking surfaces. And you don't destroy your costly carbon wheels. And they perform far superior, that's just a fact...

Αντωνης Μπουμπας Depends on your riding conditions. If you mostly planning to do climbing in sunny and dry conditions then rim brakes will be fine. However, if you are doing a combination of flat and hills and will sometimes riding on wet roads then I’d go with the disc brakes. I will order the same bike with disc because I ride year round and sometimes in wet conditions. If you’re worried about weight, just lose 2-4 kg of body weight.

Why are the slx frames from canyon no longer available on ultegra level??? I am severely shocked!

Tom Holden i believe canyon made this move so that the SLX only caters for higher end groupsets (etap/DA di2) and keeping the SL models with the mid - lower end groupset respectively.

Hi, I wonder if you might consider reviewing the new ladies specific Canyon ultimate CF SL8 disc as a friend is looking at buying one of these bikes when it becomes available www.canyon.com/en-gb/road-bikes/race-bikes/ultimate/ultimate-wmn-cf-sl-disc-8.0/2402.html

Briefly from me. Absolutely perfect bike with Shimano Ultegra and DT Swiss components. I don't have any complaints with the bike out of the box. In the future, I would upgrade tyres for something which is 28mm. That's all. If she has the money, absolutely go for it.
