Spectacular! Reminds me why I love going to the BWCA! Very professionally done, indeed!

Hi Gary, I am so grateful for the opportunity to view your work. You truely have captured the beauty and tranquility of this place we all love so much. I sit here in NW Indiana impatiently awaiting spring, longing for this wilderness, your photography fills my heart. The photo journals that you have created not only bring joy to those of us that know and adore this wilderness but inspire those who are discovering it for the first time through your work. I truely believe your photography has influence and the ability to significantly impact the preservation of the BWCAW for future generations. Thank you, for sharing!

Hello Dan and thank you for the kind words! My goal is to convey my feelings of awe as I experience this very special place. Then also have the slide show be a sort of trip report. Have a great spring trip... maybe our paths will cross one day.

I've taken solos every fall to many of these same areas. Every year I fight the wind, rain and snow and say I'm never going back. Your pictures paired to Jerry's music make me forget all the misery.

When I look back at my Fall trips, it's amazing how much foul weather we've had, but like you, we're drawn back again each year. I agree about Jerry's music! Thanks for watching!

We can always count on the weather to throw us a surprise or two! I saw lots of photos of heavy snow just a week or two after our fall trip... you just never know... Thanks for watching!

Looks like a great trip. My permit is for September 19 this year I will be out for a week. Four years ago my trip during the last eight days of September had some challenging weather. I think I will add fleece gloves for warmth and leather work gloves for around the fire.

Thanks for watching Brian. i actually take 3 pairs of golves for fall trips. One leather pair and 2 warmer pairs with a decent grip for paddling and keeping warm... one always gets wet on those extended rainy spells.

Thanks Dave, really glad you could make it this year! As I said before, even with the less than perfect weather, it's amazing how good of a trip we had... although good rain gear, good tarp and good attitudes helped a bunch :-)

Thanks Jason! It amazes me how much is always going on out in the woods to observe and photograph... even when the weather is 'crappy'

Thanks Chris! I use Canon gear... 5D Mark IV with 24-105mm and a 7D Mark II with 70-200mm and a G5X II point and shoot that is always with me. It's total overkill but I carry it anyway :-) People get great trips photos with so much less gear. Here is a link to a pdf I put together if you care to dig deeper. hamernaturephotos.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/Boundary-Waters-Photography-2-1-2020.pdf

I was in the week before to Lynx then Hustler and back to Heritage and Lower Pawness. My solo trip was pretty wet also. But any day out in the BWCA in any conditions is a great day. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks Ponds! I expect I'll always shoot mostly stills, but video is intriguing, so I'm sure I'll be shooting more of that too. It's all good if it is an excuse to go stomping around out in the woods (or water). :-)

Looks about like my Memorial Day weekend trip I took this year on the numbered lakes- soggy....even had big fat snowflakes the morning I paddled out. Once I got showered and changed back at my outfitter friend's place, I hit up Britton's..... after spending 4 days in the cold and we, those stuffed hash browns hit the spot!!!
