If FORD got their act together they would have the proper personel running the show. I see American companies becoming too focused on being politically correct when it comes to hiring people that shouldn't be in the industry. Now we have quotas that you need to have so many female engineers and managers and minorities in this mix. And the result is bland unispiring products. I will take a 'Grumpy' Jenkins at the helm rather than some Christina Aquino who is really qualified to operate a taco stand. And this folks is the demise of the american auto industry.

My 2016 has the 21 inch wheels, same motor rated at 315 but 650 RPM less, same suede insert seats. Didn't buy as a sport car version SUV, rather a long distance highway driver which it excels at. I'm not sure I really get the performance angle here. An Audi Q5 (that actually starts a little cheaper here in Canada) will at least match the Edge ST to 60, with a much better interior for good measure. And you can option an Edge ST to within a couple of grand of an SQ5... I just don't get Ford's pricing on performance models. The Focus RS flew off the lots at 50k here, then Ford bumped it up to 60k overnight for the '18 model and suddenly it wasn't selling because now it was in the same price bracket as cars like the Audi S4 or a nicely optioned BMW 340i. Insanity.

The Ford vehicles are nice but the quality construction is cheap and the reliability is poor. I had a bad experience with Ford, maybe Ford have improved it, and to spend $50,000 or $55, 000 plus an extended warranty, it's a lots of money for a Ford. Great review and thanks for confirm the poor quality of Ford.
@andrewclary872

The products themselves have gotten better as far as build quality, but the dealerships still suck, and put all their effort into making the front of the house look good. The service departments still, for the most part, don't even attempt to honor a warranty anymore. I had to leverage a bunch of 1-star reviews and calls to corporate to get my 2017 Fusion Sport with 15k miles in to have a front left wheel hub bearing replaced. No one would touch it because "they couldn't reproduce the problem" and "couldn't afford the time to look into it" but I could always "just bring it back when it breaks".

Absolutely right, it is not a car period let alone a sports car. No SUV will ever be a Porsche 911. Having owned the previous Edge Sport for the last 3 years I can say it is a comfortable, practical vehicle that can easily carry four adults and and their luggage on any road trip also in adverse weather conditions with no problems. The vehicle also comes with a full slate of safety features which most people want these days. Yes the interior is dated and quality is not of European level but either is the cost. I would love a comparably equipped Macan S, but it comes in at 20K more. Looks good, drives well for the average person and stands out on the sportier side of SUV choices.

I agree 100% about insulting the enthusiasts for sales. As a Fiesta ST owner and as someone who has driven the new Edge ST. The Edge ST is a joke. Not worthy of the badging or any sporty intentions whatsoever. All of these SUV intentions Ford has, is gonna come back to bite them. If they just retained the "Sport" trim name instead of the "ST" I'd be much less offended by it.

They took your advice the very next year on the interior. Transmission was trimmed to 7 too. Sry that happened to you. It feels like they really didnt anticipate that anyone might want to upgrade these. Its doesnt feel enough for an enthusiast, its like a nice jobber car, unless upgraded with aftermarkets imo. Better center shift manumatic was sacrificed for a big center console capacity it seems. Which is kinda nice at times. Its got a lot of room there too. But still, the shifting while paddling goes back to auto real quick if youre not on it. I think they improved the transmission but got more expensive. Theyre like 55 now upgraded up. You do get an ST driving experience for free though.

Like people have said, these car manufacturers are crazy and taking a huge gamble on SUV/crossover saturation. Once gas prices spike again / we move to alternative fuels more, these things will be the next bargain bin deals and manufacturers will have no plan B. I said screw GM due to their overpriced cars (I got a new Focus ST for over $3k less than a Cruze LT), closing of Lordstown, killing Pontiac, and the overall low quality of their cars. My Focus ST was the first Ford in the family in decades and I'm in love with it. But once my time is up with that car, it isn't looking like I would want any other Ford again either for a daily. Nissan, Kia, and Hyundai are embarrassing the Big 3. We've always been "American" car buyers but it's just sad now.

Why can’t for simply coat those parts so they don’t immediately rust as you drive it off the lot! I own Shelby GT 350. All ford needed to do with this car is give it the 3.0 engine with 400 and have a manual transmission as the base transmission if you want an auto it’s 1000 bucks. Then do something special with the rear diff That’s all they had too fucking do. It’s a lazy re badge that’s all it is. They didn’t do anything to the engine but add more boost & timing They really tried

Savage, please never get rid of the mechanical aspect of this. I work on ford vehicles, and as old as it is to look under it, i love watching you go in depth to consumers on this. Thank you.

You're so matter-of-fact. It's a rare feature, and it's wonderful. It's why I watch your videos. Crap needs to be loudly labeled as such. Thanks for your honesty and integrity.

Imagine putting an ST badge on a car that will never even see the inside lane
@iov1028

Oh no, trust me, it's going to see a lot of the inside lane. Edge ST drivers are going to sit in the left lane at 15 below so they can really soak in the scenery.

Funny cuz everytime I see someone ridding the left lane it’s a dodge or some old guy in a vet

The real issue is that whenever you go fast the speedometer gets all blurry. Hopefully they issue a TSB on that.

I'm really concerned about the way the engine keeps revving and the transmission keeps changing gears while sitting at 55. Ford better fix that.

the ST badge is dead now in the US, shame really, the Focus ST and Fiesta ST were good. RIP

FlyinGato it’s a slap in the face to those that bought into the brand. It’s like Ford doesn’t ever want time to buy their cars again.
