It's been getting worse with the inconsiderate people at these shows. We've had random people jump on our golf cart wanting a ride, using our cart as a stand while attending field demonstrations, and even having them cause damage. I'm still looking forward to this year's FPS though.

I have not been to this show yet. My question is: How much of the show is dedicated to equipment which was new specifically 50 years ago, vs around 50 eg 48-52 years ago, vs 50 years ago and newer, vs 50 years ago and older, vs just anything from 30-80 years ago? The equipment in this video seems all over the map, but I don't know from how many different years' shows it might be, nor whether it is a representative sample or Jason trying to video more variety of ages. I looked at the show's website for some clues, but for the largest vintage farm show in America, the website sure isn't much.
@bigtractorpower
3 жыл бұрын
The premises of the show is to feature tractors and machines 50 years or older so for this year 1972 and back. That said you are seeing some colon late 70’s to early 80’s tractors showing up. The oldest machine I have filmed at the this event is a 1910 International Harvester corn picker and the newest was a 1982 Steiger Panther 1000. If you like rare and ingesting farm equipment equipment this is the place to be.
@TonyM132
3 жыл бұрын
@@bigtractorpower Thanks for the reply. How much of the equipment this year then do you think will be from, say, 1969 to 1973? One third, half, three quarters? Is the focus more on what year an individual piece was made, or when the overall model was made? For example, 66 series IHs began production 50 years ago in 1971, but were also still built five years later in 1976. Will early 66 series from '71 be more featured then than black stripe '76s, or just the whole series the same because it began in '71? I'm probably thinking too deep into it, but just curious. I might make it there this year, but there are too many competing good events going on that last weekend of this August. For me, the Coke Zero 400 at Daytona and the Scheid Diesel Extravaganza in SW Indiana are also in the running to attend that weekend.

@@TonyM132 there are no rules really as to what is shown. It is all based on who shows up with what. This show has all brands and all eras. There are hundreds and hundreds of tractors to see. There is 250 acres of field demonstrations and bugs static displays for every major brand that was still in production as of the 1970s.

OMG! These tractors and equipment bring back so many memories of growing up on and around farms. Today's tractors and equipment are very impressive but they don't have that character & charm (not sure those are the right terms) of an AC 190, or JD 4020, or an Oliver 1650 (Dad had one of those), or any of a couple dozen tractors on the video. Today's equipment is good, but it is kind of like working in an office rather than on a tractor. Great video!

Has the site had much rain this year? The beans and corn last year didn't look all that good judging by these videos. I mentioned this in one of the other videos of the harvesters from last year saying that I'd rather see them running at capacity instead of some of them looking like they weren't able to get much of the beans in. I know these machines weren't designed for 50-60bu beans but would be neat to see them with a more constant flow.
@bigtractorpower
5 жыл бұрын
This is a field demonstration to show what the machines look like running. Because Rantoul is in a Northern climate and they have the show in August so farmers can attend before the real harvest begins they have to raise short day crops. Even with short day corn and beans they still have to spray them with salt water ahead of the show so they are dried down to harvest thus reducing growth as well. The crops here are not for yield they are a prop for the machines to run through. Because of the extra wet spring the 2019 show crops were not planted until May 15 so I don’t expect they will be very large.
