I installed the same tank on my 19. I reinstalled the stock plastic braces and that really helped with seat support, gap improvement, fit perfectly with no mods, and helped align the tank even better . I contacted rade with before and after pictures and recommended they add this to their instructions.

Hi. Thanks for the video. I have two suggestions to improve the install. First, I suggest using spring clamps made specifically for clamping hoses in place rather than using zip ties. Second, with just a tiny bit of filing on the top edge of the seat support brackets and those can be reinstalled with the aux tank. Theses seat supports help carry the weight of the rider rather than having the tank support the rider.

Hi, I also have this tank & I have found they have an issue with the fuel boiling from the heat of the engine & spraying out of the breather hose on the fuel cap when doing slow technical riding. This is especially a common occurrence in the summer months. I think I have remedied this problem though by installing a - CoolAir Manual Radiator Fan Switch - giving me the ability to keep the radiator fan running the whole time while doing slow riding. I hope this helps anyone else out there who encounters this issue.
@ToriMoto

Interesting - do you have the heat-reflective shielding installed on your Rade tank? Mine came pre-installed. I haven't had this problem, but admittedly it isn't summer right now. @@ToriMoto I own both version 1 & 2 of this kit. I bought version 2 soon after it was available. I may contact Rade about getting a shielded tank anyway. Im running a wings slip on with a large diameter baffle so exhaust heat build up is not an issue. Great review Tori. Any drawbacks to your hose routing so far? Will the aux tank empty all the way? Will the main tank overflow if you open its filler port with the aux tank not empty? Ciao, Marco.
@ToriMoto
3 жыл бұрын
Hey Marco. I now have about 14,000km on the bike, so I have put more than 10,000km on it with the RADE tank. No issues so far - and the RADE tank always empties first. Concerning your second question, it's not something that I have tested. I would assume that no, it will not overflow - as the routing method relies on negative pressure as the main tank empties. Thus with the lid off the main tank, there will be no negative pressure pulling the fuel over from the RADE tank, thus no overflow.

Hey Brent; yes I am. I now have 14,000km on the odo since this install, and it has worked without issue. Do you feel removing such a big part of the airbox would compromise the engine allowing for more dirt to get it? How good at removing particular is that filter. I've been curious of this , seems like its remove alot of the protection. like remove a humans nose because breathing through your mouth allows more air. Of course more bacteria, and poor quality air would go to the lungs. Thats how I imagine it. Not sure how to view this

There have been no issues with the replacement airbox. Every time I clean and replace the air filter, I am happy to see no dust has made it through to the intake.

Hello Tori, just finished installing the Rade tank, siphon method but not sure how it works, at the beginning around 2/3 of the fuel was sucked from Rade tank but then I ran out of fuel on the Husky tank and the Rade tank still had 1/3 of fuel, can you please advise?

I don't have this problem on my 690. It's possible your Rade tank outlet/fuel routing isn't lower than the main tank? I'd post the question over on the 701 Enduro thread on ADVrider for better advice.

Something similar happened to my 701 with the siphon install method. It worked fine initially, but then stopped feeding to the main tank. Pretty sure it was due to flow on the "siphon" fuel line being crimped. Fixed it by replacing the transparent, tygon fuel line with more rigid line.

Do you fill up from the front tank or from the rear. If you fill up from the front will it fill the main tank? Thanks from San Diego

I'd would like to know this as well. I'm guessing that it would take awhile for the main tank to fill as the air being displaced would have to vent through the line as the gas was trying to fill the main tank.

Quick question, what ID and OD fuel line did you use to run the axillary tank to breather tube on main fuel tank? Thanks Tori!
@ToriMoto
5 жыл бұрын
I'm unsure of the OD, I can put a caliper on it if you like. But inside diameter is 3/16" Fits great to the port on the Vanasche fuel filler. Make sure you drill the breather hole to match the diameter of the breather port.

Hi Tori, I ran my axillary tank set up the same way you set up yours, it ran flawlessly. The main tank remained the same level as the axillary tank fed fuel to it. Much better set up than messing with dropping the fuel pump. Thanks!

@@ToriMoto can you please elaborate on this, where do you need to drill the hole?
@raulmujica

@@ToriMoto great setup -- how did you drill the breather hole -- if you do it from outside the Vanasche fuel filler you'd have to be super precise not to strip the threads -- if you do it from the inside you'd have to angle the drill?

Hi Tori I am about to install the same tank on my 21 Enduro. I really like the alternative solution you did with the suction from the venting port on the std. Filler. Question. Have you remved the SAS and Canister? If not. What did you do with the other end of the standard venting hose ? Plug it? 🤔 thank u!

No, not necessary - but I already had the KTM 'power' map from the dealership installed. Unsure what maps come with the bike in other jurisdictions.

Well it only works when doing a standup one, and I have to compress the suspension a bit, but it can be done without any clutch. Not that I can hold the wheelie for long though . . .

Rade fuel tank is not legal for road use. Not ADR compliant , could have problems if you need to insurance claim one day
@ToriMoto
5 жыл бұрын
Not really bothered, JC. My KTM dealer speaks highly of the Rade tank solution; it wouldn't affect any insurance claim I might make on the actual bike. Insurance around a crash? I think I'd be fine here in Australia. I mean - it's safer than having an exposed Rotopax attached to the tail rack of my bike . . . I'll be leaving the Rade tank on my bike, it's fantastic. I'll also be installing Tubliss on my bike, which I also believe isn't ADR compliant. Who really cares? Enjoy your bike, mod your bike, don't worry too much about it all . . .
@JCKloppers

I know Bolton’s :) they are also my dealer :P rotapax on the side doesn’t affect ADR. Australian Design Rules (ADRs) are national standards for vehicle safety, the rade tank specifically state “for off-road use only” . It’s a grey line modifying the fuel cell on a motorcycle and also if the modification didn’t pass ADR , you might have issues . Just staying :)

All good, I guess I'm not really modifying the fuel cell; all I have done is route the breather hose from the main tank to a large overflow container ;)
