Despite some negative reviews I have read online (slow acceleration and cheap interior), I was very impressed by the Nissan note that I recently rented in Miami (2018). I'm not sure what sort of performance and luxury some people are expecting from a low-cost subcompact car, but we had 4 average-sized adults in it, plus luggage, and I was impressed by the acceleration (even with AC running!) for a subcompact car. I easily kept up with traffic on the freeways and highways, AND it was getting over 35 MPG. I could hardly believe it! Nissan itself has a very good reputation for quality, therefore I would not hesitate to buy one of these for transportation and everyday commuting.

The one feature I wish it had, which I've seen on Note models overseas, is push-button recirculate for the AC. The manual switch works fine, but I often forget which position it's in. I feel like automakers deliberately hobble the small car market in the US

I bought my 2015 from my mother a little less than a year ago. She wanted a new car and I couldn't pass up the deal she offered me. I wasn't too excited about it, I had planned on trading it in by now, however, I realized that once you stop driving it on "overdrive" (which is it's default setting for some reason) it's actually a zippy car. If you mess around with it even a little more turn off the handling assistant, re-program the the settings very slightly in the OEM, you have a great handling car that is more than just a little zippy. So I started to play around with the car more seriously. I've completed a muffler delete, added a cherry bomb, tinted out the windows, removed some weight, the spare tire and the assembly was almost 50 lbs all together with the heat shielding thrown in with a few other random needless things. I replaced all the lights with LED's and am now about to put in a long arm cold air intake (I feel like the short ones are useless so I had to wait because it was a little more pricey for this one) I tried some spray tint (yes that exists, I was also amazed haha) and it actually looks more than halfway decent on the brake lights. If I can afford it and it seems like a good idea I might add a supercharger or a turbo I really don't know which would be better. Side note: It turns out this is the same engine as the Juke, and people seem to be able to eek 400 hrs-per's out of the engine after adding the turbo. I'm guessing the computer settings are different and who knows what all else, but if its the same 1.6 (which it is. I finally went to a trusted mechanic because I could not 100% confirm that online or through any Nissan literature. Too bad i can't afford the mechanic or this would all be ALOT easier haha) I can only imagine where this all could end up. If anyone reads this and would like me to post some of the videos or pics I might be motivated enough to find out haha. but I got a lot of projects these days (#Covidlife)!

So sad that Nissan discontinued this for the 2020 model year. I didn't even know they had an SV special edition! Would have been a lovely send-off for this model. I have been shopping around for a car and decided to go with the Nissan Note, the main reason is that I am 6'5" or 195 cms. I was surprised I could fit behind the wheel. I was also able to fit in the Nissan March, which is also know as the Micra on the other side of the world. All the other makes I was unable to fit in, like the MG, Toyota Yaris, Honda Jazz, Mazda 2, Suzuki Mirage and the Chevy version over here. I have never owned a Nissan before and since I am working in Thailand I was wanting to find information on this in English. The last time I bought a car was in 2004, wow how much cars have changed. I am curious about how the Around View Monitor works along with the Intelligent Rear View Mirror. I like the maneuverability of this car and also that of the March, while still offering me enough room to sit behind the wheel. I should be getting my car in about a week:) I am curious what differences the Thai version has over the US/Canadian versions. en.nissan.co.th/vehicles/new-vehicles/note.html

I've been looking at these cars and I like everything about them except that they are really down on power compared to most of their competitors. The Fit, Sonic, Accent, Rio etc. all have about 130 hp compared to the Note's 109. Not that I plan to go racing or tow trailers with it, of course. But do you think it's underpowered? My current 209 Kia Rio has about 110 and I can live with it but a bit more would be nice.

@@carsunlocked the year doesn't matter as much, when it comes to Japanese cars especially Nissan, there pretty consistent with all there cars. but in the case of the subcompact car market with the Versa Note, the S and SV both have manual windows, but the SV can also sometimes come with power windows and door locks. the subcompact class is different compared to normal compact cars like the Sentra or even midsize such as the Ultima, the base model S in those cars sometimes come with features you wouldn't expect. but in the Versa going from S to SV isn't much of an upgrade. it's more like little sprinkles.
