VERY Thorough and very well though-out comments on your beautiful new truck! I do hope the Pete cabin engineers are listening!

Very intelligent and pragmatic review. Not petty in any way. Those little daily earned details are things that Peterbuilt should listen to and take into consideration for upgrades, retrofits, and future models. It’s not an inexpensive brand, so the company should always strive to make its customers as comfortable as possible. Notes such as the lighting all around, the sitting space on the bed, and the various other inconveniences are important for the company to consider for their hard-working customers.

I'm a little disappointed in Peterbilt. For it to be considered a "premium brand" of the industry, it's still lacking a lot as far as the sleeper area is concerned . As of yet, I'm only impressed with the ride. Thank you for taking the time to do this review.

A block heater with an APU will pump coolant through to keep at 100-150• and you can run an APU around 0• without it gelling up if you put additive in. I’ve been an O/O the last 7yrs.
@hudsondonnell444
2 жыл бұрын
I've been down to -36 without gelling after adding additives. I have used Espar engine heaters to warm up an engine before cold starts many times up in Wisconsin during the winter. Espar bunk and engine heaters and a good APU are two of many essentials on any truck I would buy.

Managed to get into that TA just west of Asheville pretty easily i see. That one was always a weirdly set up place, not a bad spot just a weird parking lot. A good and honest review, definitely something i'd take into consideration if i ever got back to driving; got out of it for a while after some stuff happened with family. The one thing with auto transmissions that make or break them is that if they aren't calibrated right, it makes the truck a literal pain in the arse. I remember helping a Werner driver back in one day, thought he was a new guy at first but turned out to be one of their veteran drivers, 18 years otr i total i think. His truck had an auto (T660 KW i think) trans and was applying full power with just the slightest tap of the throttle in reverse while the guy was trying to back into a spot. Needless to say that confused me pretty good. Even though i only spent three years otr, it was a good time and ended up learning a lot. Hope you aren't getting battered by this winter weather if your in the midwest, stay safe out there!

I don't like how companies buy the 579 model with the double bunk and have teams drive them. You are lucky you're driving solo, otherwise; it'd get a little cramped. Now, I'm happy to see that they came out with the ultra loft. From the outside, The mid-roofs look like a full size, until you realize that's a big ass wind deflector on top...

@@Jeh110 You are right. As long as humans drive the truck, the first and most important safety feature is driver comfort. That goes for sleeping as time off during the day as well as while driving. A driver who is relaxed and fit, is a driver that is focused and safe… and one that brings in money by not damaging things. The best brakes in the world with the best emergeny braking assist are useless, if the driver isn't able to avoid dangerous situations in the first place - they are only the last line of defence.

It sucks big-time, I was right in turning it down and choosing the freightliner, another thing I would've hated is the floor that lump separates sleeper, another thing is the one I rejected was stretched long space between 5th wheel and sleeper. This freightliner is ok but T680 had better switches etc in sleeper like USB ports and lighting was better too and also had built in power inverter with outlets like your house to plug in coffee pot electric crackpot etc. Freightliner has fridge and roomier to exercise lift tricep curls etc. All trucks storage doors rattle or don't stay closed. Freightliner tv area too small but I'll be improvising. Dude you need to ask for another truck you definitely ain't comfortable nor happy just trying to make the best of it but really I think somebody else rejected it after going through what you're going through.
