Rick Ross Thanks for the feed back. I mounted the lights underneath the top by using the small wood screws they came with. They have 2 screw holes on each light and I spaced them evenly, as far as the wires go I ran them to the left towards the switch and just carefully stapled the wires to the underneath of the top. I drilled a small hole in the left side of the box to run the wire through then up to the switch. I purchased the light from amazon, they were like 18-20 bucks for the set. 8 lights. 4 lights on each wire. Just a tip for you. If you’re going to mount the lights on the truck cap like I did you can take the 2 middle ones and just mount them on the inside of the cap so it will light up the bed more if you need it. I like more light on the tailgate for camping seeing as I use the tailgate as a table to prepare stuff. Hope this helped?

Look at neon rope on Amazon. Its a long LED strip encased in silicone so it defuses the light and makes it look even instead of a bunch of individual lights. It would be perfect for lighting up a truck bed.

Kc creations There is a piece of 3/4 inch plywood on the bottom. That’s what the box is made of 3/4 on top and 3/4 on the bottom. Just remember to put the smooth side of the plywood facing up and the smooth side of the drawer facing down. It slides fine for me even when fully loaded. Rollers with rails ofcourse would make it slide better but would be an extra cost and consume slightly more space

Leatherkid01 I didn’t bolt it down at all. The supports for the smaller storage side pieces hold it in place tight. I put on all the way in front by the back of the bed, one in the very back by the tailgate hold it from moving side to side and then one in front and the back of the wheel well to keep it from sliding back. With the weight of the box and those supports it doesn’t move at all. I personally would never drill holes in my bed or run screws through it,

David O’Connell Yes it does. I searched quite a few videos for ideas and put them all together to create this box. Thanks for the positive feedback. Always appreciated

What a great looking job! I’ll be using your ideas to build mine. I looked at the decked system as well. I didn’t like it at all.

Jason, thank you for the ideas. How did you wire the lights in the drawers ? And where did you purchase them ?

I agree about the decked system. Ugly construction, a lot of wasted space, and WAY too expensive. I just bought my first truck (used Tundra Crewmax) with a small 5'5" bed so every bit of bed space is valuable. The side cubbies could be used for compressors, air tanks, hoses, and other active/functional equipment so space is saved in the drawers and under the hood. Good video. 👍

Hey man great video! Do your drawers just slide on the bed of the truck or do you have rails in there that the drawers rest on?

What did you use as brackets to secure the shovel and axe?

Joseph holland I got the mounts on Amazon. Their called “quick fist mounting clamps”. They make all different sizes for whatever you’re mounting. I use them on almost everything and they hold tight. I’ve never had any issues with them.

This is very cool! I have a 6 1/2 foot bed and want to make this for my tundra. You used 3 1x10, two sheets of plywood for the top and bottom. What are you using to support the sides with the pullouts? Is the bottom of the drawers plywood? How to you make the triangular blocks for the drawers? Do you have a pictures of your build? Thank you very much!

Where did you pull the power from for the lights? Going to be building the box and drawers this weekend. I’ve only got a softopper so my canopy doesn’t have lights.

295 60r20 is what’s in that video, (that’s a 34” tire) I also have a 1 1/4 spacer installed on all four wheels which gives me a plus 25 offset. That was awhile ago. I’m currently running 35’s on it now. I installed a bumper spacer kit (see my video for that) and I removed the small mudflap in front of the front tire. I have no rubbing at all with that setup. I’ve made a complete video on it, but I need to get some time to do some editing before I post it.
