@@Bkg581 - I actually disagree with this assessment. Certainly individual gymnasts and scores may be too high, but in general I think people complain about OU's scores without really seeing where they're coming from. On vault, OU more often than not actually completes the trajectory of the arc as they land. It is a perfect shape. Many gymnast pike down or drop down and it isn't as strong a completion, even if the landing is "stuck". On floor (and beam for the most part) OU's choreography is more sophisticated, more intricate and more technical. More than other teams they are performing every millisecond. Their pacing is more artful and fluid, and their movements are (again, to the millesecond) sharper, more purposeful and creative. I mean, their dance on floor rivals that of the best dance companies in the country. Pilobulus, Hubbard Street, heck, the Joffrey Ballet. In addition to their tumbling and again, landings that fall into place (when they're on). Having backgrounds in both dance and gymnastics I just believe OU is (mostly - not always) that much better. That said, I think the competition this year is amazing. Florida is right there with them. Kentucky was amazing this weekend. Gonna be a great year going into the championships.

@@mariam__x so the rqs is their regional qualifying score.. So the college gymnastics committee will take the 3 highest away and 3 highest home scores from each team. They will drop their highest score (just in case the nonsense that occurred this past Friday happens. So most likely the scores from this meet will be dropped) they then take the rest of the 5 scores and add them up, average them out and they get their rqs score. This will then rank them and allow teams to know where they are going to be seeded for regionals or let them know where they stand in regards to the rest of the other college gymnastics teams. So in February, when the RQS scores come out, a teams rqs score can still change if they continue to do better or peak. Did that help a little?

All these complaints about OU being overscored - I just don't get it. They are pretty much the only team that regularly throws a vault trajectory that actually completes the shape of the arc instead of dropping down from it as they land. Perfect technique. On the floor and the beam they don't just have the tumbling but they have world class choreography where they are executing with perfectly extended feet and toe point at all times. They actually LAND their tumbling instead of bouncing out of it. They don't stop for half a second or two and then get back into their performance execution like most every other team does - especially on beam. Their pacing stays fluid. They earn their scores and it is the comparative observation from the viewers that is lacking. Do the judges err at times? Yeah. But not nearly as much as complaints would indicate. And I would say Florida's choreography on floor is really underwhelming.

Also OU's vault scores were the only ones that were justified. I CANNOT believe the judges gave the lead-off on floor a 9.95, that's UNHEARD of, even if the routine was on. Speaking of landings, since you wanted to talk about them, how about we talk about Dowell's first tumbling pass in which she was clearly short. Like, she played it off well, but the judges are playing hella dumb if one of them is giving her a 10. Furthermore, if you want to see underwhelming choreo, look no further than the bland saltine choreography that OU is putting out. Like, I'm embarrassed for them. FL is amazing to watch, especially Alicia and Trinity!
