Something you may consider adding is a plug for a trickle charger , that way you can leave the battery inside the kayak while you charge it when you get home.

Hey bro, I have my Tempest 120 PDL. But I purchased the hybird edition. #1 Hoodoo makes a factory 46 lb thrust trolling motor, that sits where the pdl would, and weighs 18 lbs. #2 I knew I was going to run the bixpy J2, on my toe control, drop down rudder system. I DIY'D my battery box, for my 12V cabela's battery, FF, and GO-PRO, and other charging accessories. I purchased a 30 cal ammo box, that identical charger panel from ebay. My cockpit and front storage hatch, and actually my hull, deck, rudder system is exactly the same the vibe's. This is my 1st kayak, and see no reason to upgrade. I was going in that exact spot, but cringed at drilling those 3 holes, in my new boat, lol. Great job. Love watching your DIY'S your just like me. Gotta be perfect. Haven't had any issues. 🙏 🎣

Great vid. One point of note: It's always a good idea to make that hot lead go to the covered half of the plug so If I were you I would have used the other half of the extension cable on the battery. That way when you are moving stuff around or anything, you don't have a live end exposed.Just thought. It's nice that Kayaks are plastic so there's not as much concern, but you never know when and where that thing rubs against earth ground.

I used a 12 volt solar panel from Bass Pro to keep my deer feeder charged and another one in the deer blind to keep a charge on the 12 volt battery being used for the lighting, USB ports and other 12 volt accessories in the deer blind. This solar panel was mounted on top of a PVC tube with mounting hardware, like flagpole mounts. Worked great. Just an idea for you to help keep charge on 12 v battery that way there is no need to remove the battery when charging. There are a lot of videos on KZitem doing Solar Charging for Kayaks, Canoes and Rafts. There are many types of panels, systems to choose from. Check into installing a 12 volt solar panel for use on your kayak.

After watching a few of your videos, I've finally figured how I'm gonna rig my OK Trident 15. So thank you for that! I ordered about $800 worth of stuff. I was initially going to use a RayMarine Dragonfly 4 pro, but my scupper transducer mold is molded for a regular one. I plan to mount a 22AH battery in the front hatch, using the same connection method as you. One connector is going to a 5 gang toggle switch panel that will run my 3 navigation lights on one switch, my red interior lights on one switch, and my under the kayak green light for bait fish on one switch. The other two switches will be for on down the road. I'll hard wire my fish finder to another sae connector and leave the other two for later. The two flush rod holders I have behind the seat will be fitted with 1 1/4 PVC pipe and with a 2x6, I'll add a 30 lb thrust trolling motor with rod holders integrated on the space between the flush mounts. So thank you for giving me some ideas. Also, your Amazon link for the RAM track mount that fits the hook2 is a dead link.

Great Vid well done!! To take picky 1 more step. I saw something I would do different, as a former electrician. The wires hanging out of your battery dry box "could" short on something since the hot wire is the exposed term of the connector. Now there is a conflict with my comment due to the color of wire used by the manufacturer of the connector. Obviously not your error. When using a connector which has only one way to plug together the color used is kinda a non issue since the color is not used to do the final plugin. As long as the color reversal for that specific connector is maintained all will be good.

Built my battery box the same way but with some of the extra cautions provided in these comments (extra shrink tape, for example, real marine silicone and dielectric grease). I haven't installed the pass through to take the power and transducer cable to the fish finder yet as I am not sure exactly where I want the finder located on my track system. I only want to drill 1 more hole. LOL.

A little plumbers pro tip for this silicone step @16:40 Once you let the silicone squeeze out, before you touch it, spray some soapy water all over it, then you can trowel it out perfectly without it smearing and sticking to anything it wasn’t touching before you sprayed it. tip for next box use the connector end that has the hot wired covered instead of the open end. to keep it from arching off of things.

Your videos are easy to follow. I just bought the Brooklyn 13 Pedal drive and am getting it ready for the spring. I have the Battery box done (Another great video) You never link the inline fuses. Just curious what I need for safety. I have USB/LIGHTER ports, depth finder, and lights. So thinking I need inline fuses. Can I tie everything into the one battery, or should I get a second battery. Current battery is 12V 10ah battery.

That battery alone should be fine, just use an inline fuse on each hot wire between your port/electronic and the battery.👍🏼🎣

Good work and good job Sir. The only flaw I can see with that panel (excepting the ommision of an inline fuse) is the fact that those damn panel lights will put a constant draw upon the battery. Leave It hooked for a night or two, and the battery will be depleted ( this is a pragmatic observation, not a critique of the method and mode of installation, which is excellently expedited). Kind regards.
