How these guys get away with 20 psi in their tires at the bike park is beyond me... Cheers!

The heavier casing makes a huge difference. I run 5psi less with the DD casing (and climb way slower on them too) :D

I was in WBP this year on my HD4, also running 20 PSI front and 22 rear. Not dropping to flat or casing the shit out of things help. Tires too. :D

I ride an HD4 as one of my 2 bikes. The HD5 is very similar and what is said in this review is true. People shouldn't think of this as the fastest enduro shred sled possible. They should think of it as a trail bike on steroids. I was in Whistler this summer and I rode Into the Mystic->Rush hour->Happy hour->LOTS loop (nearly 5000 ft elevation gain!) and then rode the park with zero setup changes. Could you do that on a coil sprung 29er? Sure, but you're gonna hate life on the way up and might not have as much fun going down blues and single blacks either.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that Jason probably has a long torso and would feel much better on an XL instead of the L frame. I am an odd duck of sorts with a long torso and shorter legs and always feel more comfortable on large frame instead of most bike shop recommended medium frames. It's funny how most want to argue but I have found 2 shops that actually go by torso length to get better more comfortable sizing for their customers and yes they earned my business pretty quick too but for many reasons not just the sizing thing. Lol

A long and slack 29er will definitely make it to the bottom with less input from the rider than a shorter and steeper bike with smaller tires. All (other) things considered equal... but some riders like the input. Just remember. When you get to the bottom on that long and slack 29er, you must take less credit, too.

I own the 2019 model of the al 6.0 Check the review on flowmtb site. Everything on point there. Basically a hooligan party bike made for downhill, jumps and tricks. Climbs not so well, but you can get away with it if you're strong, set up your shock correctly and ditched the stiff grippy stock maxxis tires. I love my Spectral.

I am all for individuality and uniqueness but good god that’s an ugly bike. I wish a lot of these manufacturers (ibis, pivot, marin) would understand that for 5000 bucks I want to walk out to the garage and go, “that’s one hell of a good looking bike!” For two grand, I would be willing to say, “yeah she’s ugly but she’s mine and she’s fast”.

So it's not a race bike... Fuck yeah! Most mountain bikers aren't racers, so a fun bike is what most of us should have. Leave the race bikes to the racers, go schralp some gnarly shit instead (because schralping and other fun riding is usually slower but always funner)
