One of the best reviews of basic model FTR. Very interesting information like 2G off for showroom models (I need to check is it available in UK in2022), optional device for mapping for basic model.

Enjoyed the vid. It's a shame the styling of motorcycles. There's basically no bodywork, no front or rear fender. You really don't even get a complete seat anymore. You get a frame and motor and enough saddle to sit on and that's it. Then they ask 15k-22k for the bike with mdiocre suspenion.

Can get the base model now in the UK for £9995 and the s model for just under 11,000, tempting.

the lowest priced r1250s they have at the local dealership is 18799USD. they have a ftr right now at 9999USD and an s at 13999USD. so the BMW is almost 5KUSD more than the S and 9KUSD than the base. i do prefer the looks of the Indian but that is subjective. if money was not an issue, i would probably go for the BMW. of course, i am in no position to buy anything that is not necessary these days. oh the joys of having a stay at home mom and 2 teenagers.

Hey Scott another quick point the only two dealerships rather three dealerships that have Anni stack it all in my area are BMW Indian and Ducati Indian had a corporate ride this summer I do understand that they do have a fix for the mapping and there are many aftermarket mapping aids I was surprised to hear that the R1 is the hardest bike to break the code for Napping but they’re working on it

I'm own a S R since august. Here is my SUPER short review: Best fun bike you can possibly buy, when you like to ref up in low rpm/resonable rpm. You can take ride it mellow if you like(but never put it in sport mode!). The feeling, and the is essentinal, you can have with the bike is up to the american dream - but!; I always think about the money I invest, I can't enjoy it to the fullest because I bought it almost brand new and when I but a few bucks on top of it I could bought a Lotus Elise(my dream car). This is dark side of psychologie when you buy something of value, you may compare it to something else. When you don't count your self to these group, please - go and take a ride with any Indian FTR because you would be suprised how much fun you gonna have with this "standard" american naked bike. I think it's not comparable to any standard naked bike out there!

It's maybe the most appealing Indian to me, but still I think it is not myy kind of bike. Thanks for showing anyway. Stay safe and healthy Scott! Btw... How is your wife doing? ...bike wise
@NothingToProve

Hi Simon, She is putting the km's on her Honda Monkey right now, taking it to work when it's nice weather and we do some weekend short rides, she is learning. BUT of all the middleweight bikes she likes the looks of the Moto Guzzi V7III the best, in the Bronze color. She can flat-foot it with out having to lower it but it is twice the weight of the Monkey but then again almost any bike is twice the weight of the Monkey...LOL! Ride safe, Scott
@simonlutt9849
4 жыл бұрын
@@NothingToProveWell, if she is comfortable with the Moto Guzzi, then so be it. Of course the weight is a point to consider, but as you said. Any bike is twice the weight of the Monkey, but as she can flat foot the V7, there should be no problem for her. I like this brand since I test rode the V85TT. I'm not sure if you rode her before. But I'm assuming we get to watch a video of you testing the V7?

The FTR I'd buy. I hate the TFT on the expensive models and I don't need to fiddle with the suspension. Of the extras, I'd only want the side bag, but I bet Indian overcharge for it. At 12,000 euros, I'd snap one up. Good video. I have re-subscribed. I unsubscribed in error. I thought you were someone else. Sorry.

I road tested every bike I could because I was looking for something new, I was in my way to make a deal with Ducati for a scrambler but then I road tested the ftr1200 and man I fell in love, can’t explain what it is about the bike but I just love it, there is a guy in Charlotte NC Indian dealer that has the mapping down for their bike but other than that it’s just a blast to ride I don’t ride any of my other bikes anymore this is the only one I ride, and my Ducati is jealous as my Honda Valkyrie

Glad you were able to give it another run out for a reassessment to take account of the new price and fuel issue. Not a perfect bike but different enough to make it an interesting option. It is top of my list at the moment but i know there are things that will need attention to get it closer to where i think it needs to be. Thanks for your efforts with these reviews, i can see the time and effort you invest for us.

It's nice to see that they listen to criticism, looks like a nice bike. How about a test on Triumph Tiger Sport 1050 as that in the UK is retailing brand new at £9500 and that has to be a bargain. Great video as always, honest appraisal and no hyperbole. :)

Tiger Sport...hmm...I've never considered doing one. I don't think I've seen one on demo before over here in Germany, they are kind of rare, don't see them on the street and I know you can't get them in the States. I wonder why it's "rare". I'll check into it but it may be too late in the season to do one this year. 😒 Ride safe, Scott

About what you said for the one day registration.. this is the same thing a car dealer did with my mothers new Renault Captur. We were like.. how come the price is so low? Oh, he said, we just register it for a day, and then we can legally sell it at this much lower price cause it counts as a 2nd hand vehicle now. But Indian also still has some good deals on the FTR at least at a dealer here in Belgium. So combine that with a one day registration.. and you get a pretty good deal.

It's really a beautiful "scooter" but yoday's engine technology sucks. I am not interested in high rev engines. The reason I lost my interest in the Scout too. High revs to find the sweet spot doesn't do it for me. I guess I will have to build another brand new "antique" drive train or get a 1700 Nomad and do some suspension mods. The 1700 power plant is truly excellent that makes it's grunt down low.
