I have a 2012 Nissan Sentra S with over 195,000 miles on it. Never had an issue with the original CVT. I changed the fluid every 60,000 miles as required in the owner’s manual. Nissan is capable to be reliable as Toyota and Honda. You haters should learn how to read a manual and drive a car properly and you won’t have any problems long term.

Im from Brazil, i have the B16 for 10 years, 45,000 miles, never changed the fluid as well and never had any problems with the CVT. I bought the new B17 and the cvt is even better, smoother, better fuel economy, silent. People who complain about nissan cvts never even drove a nissan sentra.

Used to own a 2013 Sentra S and at that time chose it over a Yaris and City even though I wasn't a huge fan of the styling back then but I must say the 2020 model looks like it could compete with a segment above its class. Good job Nissan !

Excellent review 👌. I really like the Sentra you reviewed, at first, I was not sure about the exterior color against the interior color, definitely looks amazing. The air vents and quilted leather in carmel looks so awesome. Hopefully Nissan will offer a turbo with more power, I think sales for the Sentra would take off. I'm 6'3, and you seemed comfortable in the Sentra.

Bravo Nissan.. This really is a good effort and I'll be honest as a child who grew up around 90's cars (the best era for modern cars) I am excited if Nissan becomes great again, because they definitely used to be. This is an important product for them and I hope its as reliable as a Toyota... I would buy one as a commuter for sure.

I am not an American or Canadian, but to say that Nissan should merge with Honda so that Nissan would change its name back to Datsun at the same time Nissan/Datsun too would become great again. But, prior to that, Honda would forge a tieup with Japan's Kawasaki Heavy Industries (where the Kawasaki bike company is part of it), and even India's Mahindra & Mahindra (which makes cars in a cheaper method) as well, as India's cost of labour is inexpensive than the rest of Europe, UK and Ireland, US, Canada, Australia, and NZ. (especially both Honda and Nissan/Datsun deeply struggle in the Indian market as India preferred to overtake China as a workshop for the rest of the globe) Thus, when Honda already forged engineering deals with Kawasaki and Mahindra, therefore Honda, so do Kawasaki (unless when Honda buys Kawasaki Heavy Industries), would take over Nissan. And in the end, Acura and Infiniti would cease to exist. Mitsubishi Motors on the other hand, would merge with utility vehicle expert Isuzu instead... (sorry for the words)

Nissan understands the want to be sporty by adding the button on the CVT shifter. Adding the option of a 6-spd manual would actually open it to other buyers. The cabin looks great, but Civic and Corolla will still let you shift on your own, and that's the aspect where it lags.
@digitaldoc100
4 жыл бұрын
Gonna take more than a button on the shifter to get us sporty. The Sentra really needs a more exciting engine. Why can they put a 3 cylinder turbo that can get us to around 200 hp? A better torque curve with more power down low would improve the driveability. I am truly bored with 4 normally aspirated cylinders from Nissan and others that have no torque down low.

@Planet Earth Also because Nissan sank themselves on a chip fryer a la Rainbow Warrior, its a name of a fishing trawler that France sank off the coast of New Zealand in 1985, especially Nissan/Datsun counts NZ as its popular cars. Anyway, I am not an American or Canadian, but to say that Nissan should merge with Honda so that Nissan would change its name back to Datsun at the same time Nissan/Datsun too would become great again. And in the end, Acura and Infiniti would cease to exist. (since Mazda used to own Infiniti's name before Nissan did, and when Honda and Kawasaki already owns Nissan, therefore Nissan would change back to Datsun, and swap all of the French-fried parts with Honda and Kawasaki-sourced engineering) Mitsubishi Motors on the other hand, would merge with utility vehicle expert Isuzu instead... I've owned a B16 and a B17 Sentra over the last 7 years that were fantastic little cars, so I'm a little more lenient toward Nissan's issues. However, the floating roof trim on that B18 is terribly fitted. I hope it got knocked out of place by a journalist or a fleet handler, because if it rolled out of the factory looking like that, then holy shit.

Honestly the only thing I don't like about the old sentra was the power. At 80mph it was very quiet with wind and road noise and adults could fit in the back and I got 40mph avg. Hated lack of armrest on base model though and shoulder room not as wide as my altima. They fixed most of those issues for this new mkdel
