2020 was the year where I feel deep into astrophotography, and learned a lot about who I was in the process.
There were struggles and frustrations but also triumphs. I shot my first great comet, captured Uranus, Neptune and Pluto, created a 'Martian Sol' time-lapse • How I captured a Marti... , and got images of the Martian moons - Phobos and Diemos and so much more! Through achieving all this I learned that I had more patience, and determination than I would ever had ever imagined.
Astronomy and astrophotography are such wild hobbies. I looked back at all the photos and could hardly believe it, I almost feel like I'd spent 2020 in space. It dawned on me that I could probably create something out of all the data I had acquired. The 'Cassini Mission' video by Chris Abbas was a huge inspiration, I love the style of the RAW data, and that's what I've emulated here with what I could capture from Earth.
Just at the end of the process of creating this, when I was composing the soundtrack, Perseverance landed, and sent back the first 'directly recorded' sounds of Mars. I thought I'd take the opportunity to include it. So listen carefully, it's quite subtle, but it's in there.
Hope you enjoy this!
