Finally a car reviewer mentioned a comfortable driving, as most of other revierwers focus on how fast the car is, 0 to 60 which as normal car drivers rarely we benefit from this measure.definittly worth a subscribe.

Great review! As a former automotive journalist, I completely agree with what you say about dynamics: at car magazines, we often forgot that not everyone is a race-car driver. As long as it isn't wobbly and unstable, a simple, comfortable car is a very pleasant experience. It's lovely sometimes to drive a car that lowers your heart-rate and makes journeys easy and soothing. And yes! An old-school Mercedes feel is something I've missed for a long time. Mercedes used to make cars that were comfortable, simple to understand and would last forever; what do they make now? This is the modern equivalent of a Mercedes W124, a car that is smart without being flashy, hugely comfortable, and you can pass it on to your grandchildren. We keep going on about the best and latest and jazziest and getting a new iPhone every year, but in a world of increasing waste, a car like this a welcome return to common sense.

Hybrids are comfortable and very addictive to drive, it’s the calmness and serenity of the drive. I drive a Lexus is300h and as you say in the video, maybe people need to take a step back and enjoy old fashion comfort, and relaxation more!, and forget about 0-60 times. I enjoyed your video and was very happy you were pleasantly surprised as I was when I bought my Lexus hybrid.

It is indeed a relaxing car to drive but when you want to put your foot down and put it into Sport it will move very fast. The seat is so supportive and never gives me any back pain even sfter a 3 hour journey. Great video.

Brilliantly made car, no issues at all, the car is perfectly insulated, silent and that little V6 gives you enough power, but more importantly sound and smoothness.

I would buy it. Atm no as I don't need it rn but it future yes. Basically I would like more technologicaly advanced headlights, nicer looking rear lights and I'm fine with the rest. Seating position, I heard this before, a lot of German people prefer lower seating position. For a daily driver and not so good roads I 100% prefer higher one and off course more comfortable ride as cars today became too stiff imo. Imagine 6,5l per 100km without taxes (in my country hybrids don't have them), clutch, all the additional filters and sensors on diesels etc.

Here in Canada they are also mainly taxi/Uber. But the base 4cyl is the most common option. The v6 i hear is really nice especially since the Honda Accord no longer does v6 and instead use a 4cyl turbo (detuned type-r). I have driven the 2.0L accord. Not quite amused with the power delivery. Turbo lag is evident and still doesn't compare to that feeling of a n/a v6

I thought the Camry was too short and I'm not even 6 feet tall. I participated in Car and Driver's editor for the day event at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 2012. We were testing 5 - 2013 sedans. The updated Ford Fusion was just released to the market that week. It was up against Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, Hyundai Sonata, and the Nissan Altima. This was a month after I bought a previous year new Accord. The Accord held out very well against the competition. Now in 2020 looking back at the 2013s, exterior styling still holds up well for all cars except the Hyundai and Camry. My seat was all the way back and my hair would brush the roof of the Camry. My head was tilted to sit in the backseat. The Altima had the most comfortable seats but lacked technology. The fusion was leaving tech as well. But the Accord had less comfortable seats but felt overall more of a premium car. I cross shopped the MB C300 and didn't see where the extra money was going to in the C Class. The 2013 C Class is a fantastic car but waa not worth the money to me. Looking at today, the Camry is a good looking car inside and out. But they aren't making them for taller adults. The new Accord Hybrid Touring is an incredibly premium feeling car. I still have a hard time choosing a C Class over the Accord, however the 4-Matic is wonderful in Michigan. I have a 2016 Dodge Charger Pursuit that is a retired North Carolina State Highway Patrol car. It has a 5.7L V-8 mounted to a Mercedes Benz 5-speed automatic transmission and all wheel drive. The all wheel drive is rudimentary, the interior is very basic (after all it's a police car), but the ride is very smooth, it has good performance, the engine and exhaust makes a good noise, it's very quiet inside the cabin, and it's very comfortable to sit in for over 8 hours, like an office chair. I think electric and autonomous will have the advantage in luxury and commuter vehicles, whereas a mechanical gasoline car will win still prevail for those who love driving. Although the new generation experience a different paradigm which they tend to favor autonomous electrics.

Thanks for your comment Mike! I had a Dogde Challenger V6 to road trip for a month in the states and liked it alot. The Honda Accord was never popular in germany, just like the Hyundai Sonata. I don't think they even sell them here anymore. We really tend to the VW Passat, Opel Vauxhall Insignia (Buick Regal in the states?) and of course C-Class, 3 Series and A4 here in germany. But that just made me so curious in the Camry and I stand to my opinion, feeling it to be a good car overall. Selling it for the prices here in germany its very competitive imho and at least an interesting alternative for businesses or rental car companies - Guido

@@TheGetawayer I hope Mercedes releases some sedans and coupes with the 48V 4.0L twin turbo V-8 like in the 2020 GLE/S. While I probably won't buy MB (cost & depreciation), there's something about that combination that excites me. I will soon be looking for a good GT car. I may go back to being a Corvette owner though and get into a used C7 (maybe Z06). The 2018 Maserati Granturismo is a close second despite its automatic transmission, maintenance cost/time, and depreciation curve. I don't mind doing my own repairs on cars as long as it's not spending most of my ownership being inoperable. But that would complement our garage as we have the Charger for its utility, Acura RSX-S for its VTEC, and a WRX STI for year-round fun. I don't think I would like the Supra as a GT in my garage (I think I would rather have a used 911), but I'll stay tuned.

@@TheGetawayer I rented a Granturismo in Las Vegas and drove it to the Hoover Dam. The sound of the car especially the sound as it was echoing off of the valley and dam was the most memorable part of my experience there. It was slow but more comfortable than the C6 Vette I had (although I had the Z51 package). The trip between Nordschleife and LeMans sounds like a good test for grand touring. I keep gravitating towards either a Z06 or a 2014 in Lime Rock Green. I used to drive the C6 everywhere from Michigan to Toronto to San Antonio Texas.

Even over here in the US that's a big car. Having said that, everything has become bloated over the last 15 years. The BMW 3 series is now the size which had been the 5 series, the 5 series is the size which had been the 7 series, and the 7 series is as big as the moon. It's a bit sad. Also, cars are so expensive over there. In the US that's a $34,000 car all day long. Maybe consider doing a combination of POV and another camera on a window mount.

Hi Guido! Not a fan of the POV editing, I think that a fixed camera on the driver side works best. Older videos seem more professionally edited compared to this format, but that's my humble opinion! Hope that after this covid-19 BS you return to the old format. Regarding the car, it's an overpriced POS, bought by stubborn people that have no idea how good other brands have become. You have to test drive a Mazda, Kia or a Hyundai to feel how much of a "so-so" experience it is to drive a Toyota. They aren't particularly well built or that robust in direct comparison, look strangely dated in certain details, interior design is like it's trying too hard to make it feel like a lower priced Lexus, but with Lego like flimsy plastics with no care about texturing just vast areas of piano finished black plastic (I cringed when you knocked on the center console's infotainment system...). It's like Toyota isn't watching what it's most direct asian rivals are doing, it's borderline ridiculous!
@TheGetawayer

Thanks buddy! Views have been so low that I wanted to try posting longer videos and the POV format, which works really well for some channels. Given how much effort it took to film the TT RS, I guess you understand why I took that path, but yes the old format will be back for the Supra...I have driven many of the other brands latest cars that you mention. I fully agree on Mazda. Kia and Hyundai are far over-hyped imho. Yes their design is good, but the long term quality clearly is not on the same level as Toyotas. Anybody with insight into those two brands will tell you that. Also the N cars while fun and great sounding, stand no chance on track against the european rivals, even on super grippy Trofeo tyres. At least in the testing I have been a part of at Auto Bild Sportscars. The only Lexus I drove was the LC500 V8 and I loved that car. What do you think about that one and the Supra? - Guido
@JohnyMcNeal
4 жыл бұрын
Which toyotas did you compsre directly to which kia/hyundai? I haven't had that feeling at all. Before corona I tested new rav4 and sportage and tucson. Rav is noticeably better in all aspects. Tried new mazda 3, corolla hybrid and I didn't notice that mazda is much better. Current i30 feels worse compared to them although I drove it for a couple of min only. Atm I do own last gen mazda 3 122 manual and last gen sportage. Did try a new sportage which does feel better but rav4 wipes the floor with it. Previous gen sportage isn't comfy, gives no emotion, not that rav4 does but he feels worse, build quality is nothing special... No idea how you got to that conclusion tbh.

@@JohnyMcNeal I compared the Corolla, with the Mazda 3, i30 and Kia Ceed. True, the i30 may not be as plush inside, I think that the materials got a bit worse, but there is no reason not to question the price point of the Corolla, especially after climbing down from a 3 or a Ceed. The interior lacks detailing, cheap plastics are really nasty, they don't even try to hide it. When a 1.2 Corolla base model costs as much as a premium feeling 3 with a 2.0 engine, something is clearly not right. You may enjoy Toyotas, nothing wrong with that, but they are at least questionably priced. In my country, a kia Ceed costs 6000€ less than a corolla, with similar equipment levels. Is it justifiable? They have similar levels of ride quality and sophistication, it is the brand loyalty that bumps the price up.

@@TheGetawayer it really isn't your problem Guido. There are lots of below average car reviewers with an opinion and an atitude, everybody thinks that can do what someone like you can do, but quality standards are really low. I think you are very professional and an eloquent communicator. There's lots of loud, fully tatooed, extravagant reviewers with a lot of subscribers, but that doesn't mean they're any good. Just keep on going, drive as much as you can, longer videos, etc. And again, it would be nice to see even cheaper cars on the channel, to see which ones are truly surprising regarding driving pleasure. By the way, why did you stop reviewing? About Hyundai and Kia, there's an i30 in the family and the car has impressive robustness. It gets hammered and thrashed, and it just keeps on driving like new. No rattles, squeaks, nothing. Test drive the Ceed, i30, they all feel high quality. Shame about parts price and availability... 😉
