I just picked one of these up last month. Love it. The mpg gets lots of knocks but right now I’m averaging .6 mpg less than the 16 mpg I was getting on my 2017 Titan. For an “old” engine i was expecting worse. This vehicle is fun to drive. Drives like a car, not like a truck. And with a family of 5 this has plenty of room. You can’t go wrong. If I had to ask for one thing to improve I’d say put in a 9 or ten speed transmission to improve mpg and that’s it. Don’t touch the 5.7L engine!

Sequoias are bullet proof. My dad just bought a brand new 4Runner so I’m taking over his 04 sequoia. 275,000 miles and EVERYTHING besides tires and brakes are still factory. Not a single problem. I’m going to tackle the dreaded water pump and timing belt just to get the preventative stuff going as well put some nice spark plugs in it as those are still factory as well.. My goal is, my son (7 years old) will be driving this when he first gets his license. Confident I can hit 600,00 miles no problems

It's fun when people post comments like this. Never mind that Toyota is outdated, has smallest engine connected to 5 speed and worst fuel economy. It's Toyota, so it has to be good right? Anybody actually realizes that it's only "good" because they sell you very old tech? If you think Toyota badge guarantees you won't have issues, go visit any Toyota dealer service department. And if you live above the rust belt and considering body on frame Toyota, they rust like there is no tomorrow.

I have the 2006 Sequoia as my work truck and it's wrapped in my company decals. I keep a 7 foot A frame and 24ft aluminum extension ladder strapped to the top daily. It's my favorite vehicle I've ever owned. Over a Toyota T-100, Ford lariat, Acura, Nissan Altima. Old school F-150. I took out the third row seating to build a custom double deck tool storage. Also have 3-12" Rockford Fosgate P3s and an 8000w amp. Stock Alternator powers it effortlessly. I change the oil regularly and preventative maintenance regularly. Overall I'm just saying this SUV is my favorite and a Dream come true would be to have my Nexx Generation Construction company logos all over that super stout looking 2020 Sequoia. Toyota is just so good at making the most reliable vehicles!!!

The 2010-2022 Sequoia is the most underrated SUV ever made. For the price there is no better value for what you buy. Truly the most reliable and powerful for its size V8, tons of excellent room, and reliability out the wazoo. My wife and I bought a 2018 Sequoia Limited 4x4 brand new in 2017 and raised our four kiddos in it. Ironically, my older brother and his family (same size) have a Ford Expedition MAX Ecoboost and he has had several expensive issues happen including the replacement of the turbos at around 145,000'ish miles. It cost him $5,500 to replace them. Had a bunch of oil leak issues and had to essentially replace the front end of that truck the year or two prior to the expensive replacement of the turbos. Overall, he told me he's spent $8,000+ keeping that Expedition on the road. As for my Sequoia we are up to 121,000'ish miles already and I have literally spent zero dollars outside of regular maintenance. I am getting ready to replace the shocks and struts because they have warn out which will be expensive, but that's going to be the first big maintenance bill I have done. I'm having the spark plugs done at the same time. Finally, anyone moaning and groaning about mpg shouldn't be buying vehicles this size. My brothers Expedition MAX ecoboost gets nearly the same mpg my Sequoia gets which is 14 city and about 17-17.5 highway. His is 14-15 city and 18-19 highway. By the way he's told me when it is just him driving he can get 20-21, but once you get the family in there and any kind of load the turbos are always spinning and that Ecoboost drinks fuel.

There's no mythical auto lobby against diesel in the Toyota, they won't make a diesel engine because they're dirty and nasty. They used to get 500,000 miles and now they only last as long as a gas burner because of the re-circulation of exhaust back into the engine. DPFs are garbage, EGRs are garbage and new diesel engines are garbage unless smog stuff is removed.

My outback is paid off next year. Trading it in on a 14' sequoia limited. The fact that it hasn't changed since 2008 makes this an AWESOME used vehicle. By 14' they worked out most of the issues and its pretty much bullet proof. Should be able to trade my outback in and maybe cough up a few thousand out of pocket, and then I've got a full size suv for my whole fam that will last 10-15 years, which is exactly what I want. I would never buy this thing new for all the reasons everyone complains about. But honestly, do you REALLY need all the bs tech that comes in the Tahoe and explorer these days? No. These sequoias are great because they are modern enough to give you what you need, but not all the bs that you don't. Just buy them used and save $40k. Just my two cents..

Not sure why Toyota is not redesigning this great vehicle to be even better and competitive. Even the 4runner and rav4 was updated. Love that back window rolls down. A feature every suv should have, hopefully when they eventually redesign it will keep that feature. Be nice to have a similar or more powerful refined powertrain that gets better gas mileage. Perhaps a 9 or 10 speed transmission. A better looking and more functional dash. Maybe we'll see it..

Just got a 2020 4runner to me it beats the Sequioa hands down especially if you want off road capabilities and it’s cheaper. Even though it’s still super expensive. Not sure if the Sequioa actually has leather seats but I’m pretty sure it’s softex not leather. Pretty much the same thing though. Absolutely no regrets on the purchase. I don’t know if I’ll ever buy another American car.

Nice, informative and relaxed video to watch. Thx :) Question in reference to headroom in the drivers seat? Looked preaty spacious in the second and even third row. But you did no cover drivers seat. Does the sunroof bites into the headroom much?

? It can run in All Wheel Drive or 4 Wheel Drive with the center locked. It can do this in high or low range. It is actually one of the most versatile 4X4 systems on the market.

Glad they added the oil filter access door to the skid plate. Mine doesn’t and it’s a PITA to remove

Look into the RCI metalworks front skid plate for the Tundra. I heard it can work on the sequoia. Just installed it on my tundra and it has an oil filter access door.

The 4wd controls are identical to the one in the Tacoma, how is this easier? also shift on the fly, no need for neutral
@geoffmooregm

Not from high to low. But from 2 to 4 yes you can shift at any speed under 80Km/hr

It is all practical, somewhat. However, it is way overpriced for what it is.

This thing better cost less then a Ford Expedition Fx4. Seems like Toyota is ok with giving you yesterday’s tech so those fox shocks better be impressive.

We just got the 2019 sequoia trd sport 2 months ago... I kinda wish that we waited for the trd pro but the sport isn’t that bad... not sure if it’s possible to swap out the old infotainment screen for the new one...

Drivers Only the trd sport is great but I really like the trd pro design.... congrats on your pro bro... our sport still has the 6 inch infotainment which is what I hate... I’m just wondering if we can replace it with the 7inch similar to yours🙁

FBI if the pro and sport is anything like the Tundra, you are better off with the sport for everyday driving. The pro comes with fox suspension that is more spongy for off roading.

Lipstick on a pig... what a concept. This truck is in desperate need of an updated design, better mileage, more power and a realistic price for a 20 year old platform. This is not one of Toyotas better looking vehicles and as it ages it has taken on a bloated look over the years. Granted this thing will probably outlast its contemporaries but you are buying a brand new antique. Noting to see here except a new old truck with some new electrical goodies that do nothing but make a reliable vehicle unreliable.

My 2014 Sequoia has a center console arm rest that slides forward several inches, enough to where it covers over the 3rd cup holder. This allows me to write notes easier. Does the 2020 model center console/armrest slide forward? Try it out by squeezing the handle but instead of lifting the console try sliding forward.
