I have a 2018 standard Casino and if these "Worn" Casinos are half as versatile and half as much fun to play then they are a steal at about 250 bucks less than the standard. Look cool too!

Have the olive green drab model since 2 months. I changed the pickups to a Lollar & a Heartbreaker P90 alnico II with black plastic, (Seymour Duncan antiquity dogear would also be nice in this), and a black pickguard & Duesenberg Bigsby. Standard electronics (pots) are CTS, top notch with really nice range. Had a professional setup, incredible guitar now, especially for the price, light, resonant, slim easy neck and the brighter pickups really do it justice. If you want Gibson ES330 for practically nothing than this is your ticket.

I have one of these - and I fact 4 other 2020 epiphones (2x LP, a SG and a Firebird). I don’t subscribe to the view that some people have of the need to replace pickups in affordable guitars. I’m really happy with the pickups in all my Epiphones and my preference rather than pay half the price of a new guitar on pickups and set up.

Nice review - I bought a 'Worn Blue Denim' model from the first batch and am equally pleased with it - playing for swing and jazz as a back-up. The addition of CTS pots has made such difference over the one I had previously - you can roll both volume and tones off to good effect: previously the PU's were a bit 'on or off'.

Got the faded blue model coming my way as soon as the shop gets them in. I love P90 hollow bodies and play a Heritage 530, Loar LH302T (Set up for slide ala Thorogood), and an Epiphone ES 295 Scotty Moore model. These Casinos are a great bang for the buck.

These guitars are so reasonable, everyone should have one, they are incredibly light, and fun to play, the Acoustic tones are very good and when really driven, they have and almost on the edge, feedback tones, you just have to learn how to control it with your palm mute, should be in every guitarists bag of tones!

Gassing for a 335-type guitar.. stuck between a Casino or Sheraton or Hofner Very thin.. I wonder what the finish would be like if you applied a couple layers of wipe-on poly? How comfortable is it play play sitting? what about upper fret access etc..
@GraemeCampbellMusic
Жыл бұрын
I don't have it anymore but I remember it feeling very comfortable. Its light almost like an acoustic guitar. Upper fret access is a wee bit limited if you are used to a Strat type but you get round it. The main diffrence between the Casino and Sheraton oustide of sound would be the weight, with the Sheraton being heavier, and also with a chunky neck.

I noticed the "Worn" models say they use CTS pots but on the "Standard" models it doesn't say which pots are used. I thought it would be strange to use better quality components in the less expensive model so I called Epiphone to ask them what pots are used, the guy I talked to said the standard and the worn versions all use the same pots and pickups. I can't guarantee he's correct but I went ahead and bought a standard Casino in sunburst and I'm really happy with it.
@GraemeCampbellMusic
3 жыл бұрын
The worn ones do have CTS pots but I think are cheaper to manufacture because of the Worn Finish, but it would be cool if Epiphone were putting decent electronics across the range. Enjoy the standard, I might get one of those eventually too.

@@GraemeCampbellMusic I thought the pickups were different...on the Epi website it says "Dogear P-90T Classic" for the standard and "Epiphone PRO P-90" for the Worn. I'm a little bit concerned about it b/c I returned my Standard after a couple of weeks b/c the Worn came out, and I liked the look better, and of course the $200 savings. Figured I'd put that toward a setup b/c my Standard needed it badly. Been waiting 3 months now for the Worn to arrive which sucks but hopefully in another month it'll arrive. Also wondering about the neck difference...my standard was very playable/comfortable with it's "Slim-Taper D" and now the Worn says, "60's C". and honestly I've no clue what difference that will make. Lastly, the Pau Ferro fretboard on the Standard felt awesome, so I hope the Indian Laurel will be fine on the Worn. LOL.

My standard Casino (sunburst) made in early 2020 has full size pots - "Made in Korea 500K". They work well and I get a good sweep of tone/volume. I've had it about a year and love it. The neck is on the smaller side but plays fine for me. Sounds really good. I haven't done any side by side with another Casino with "better" pick-ups" but thru my wet/dry AC30(dry) and JC-77 (wet) the notes ring clear and bright and the P90s have a nice punch/growl when the amps are driven a bit.
