@@changsina6893the truth is the Communist Party didn't do shit to save China and the people and now all the Chinese people are serving the Communist Party like it's their parents
上海租界叫settlement,电影里的territory说错了,法理上一直是中国领土。Unlike the colonies of Hong Kong and Macau, where the United Kingdom and Portugal enjoyed full sovereignty in perpetuity, the foreign concessions in China remained under Chinese sovereignty.
was this scene truly happened in real event? if it indeed happened,it seems both the Japanese and the British were actually tried not to antagonize against each other。the Japanese forces tried hard not to let their engagement spilled into the British-controlled international settlement in fear of provoking Britain and the British garrisson also tried hard not to cross the red line between defending the settlement and provoking the Japanese。this tense meeting between both was just a seed of hostility that would explode 4 and half years later。

British and Japanese soldiers aimed their guns at each other in Shanghai Concession,It never happened. The Japanese were very close to the British and were once Britain's only recognized ally in Asia.

@user-cx9uz7qi Your historical knowledge needs s upgrading... This movie took place in 1937, when Japan had not yet joined the Axis Powers. They launched the Pacific War against Britain and the United States, which happened four years after this scene... Please stop your Brain time travel.

@user-cx9uz7qi whatever you talk,This could not have happened in Shanghai in 1937....because Japan was the best student of Western civilization in third world, and they were proud of it at the time

@user-cx9uz7qi War-failure-sign a treaty-violate the treaty-war again-lose again-sign a peace treaty again-violate the treaty again.... This was the attitude of the Chinese government at that time towards foreign powers. The Japanese army treated the Chinese very rudely and brutally because the Chinese did not keep their promises. But Japan respect the British who know their credit very much
The KMT regime in Taiwan made a big hoo-ha in the 1970s and made the original movie abt these 800 rearguard soldiers. The truth was the commander was murdered by his own soldiers after they surrendered to the British. Most of the 800 were sent to places like Guam or Rabaul and nvr made it home after the Japanese seized the British Concession in Shanghai. The PRC govt paid little regard to these ppl because Japan was an impt ally since the 1970s. In reality, this was an unimportant rearguard action that happened to be captured on camera by reporters from the British side. It made no difference to the war and did not persuade neither the British nor the Americans to intervene. That was 1937. British soldiers even congratulated the Japanese after they took the warehouse.

Judging by how you guys wrote your comment, you two have little to no understanding of the importance of the siege of the Sihang Warehouse. The 800 commander Xie Jinyuan was assassinated not by his own man but by a Japanese collaborator and traitor who were loyal to Wang Jingwei (A Chinese leader who sided with Japan). Though the battle was lost and the warehouse did fall to the Japanese, the battle itself did demonstrate to both the world and Japan that the Chinese soldiers can be just as strong and brave and determined in defending their homeland. Most Japanese officer who attack Shanghai thought that Shanghai would fall in a couple of days and that China as a whole would fell in three months but that's not the case, because the battle of Shanghai lasted three months with so many Japanese casualties, which was way longer than what most Japanese officer would've thought that the whole war in China would lasted. And after Shanghai, most Japanese officer realized that the war in China would last much longer than what they had anticipated. Regarding both the British and the American's thoughts on the battle, they were actually amaze by the bravery of the soldier of the Sihang Warehouse, that they even dubbed the Sihang Warehouse, the "Alamo of the East".

@codyshi4743 your Japanese collaborator loyal to Huang was obviously Chinese and not Japanese. He was a member of Xie's unit. A rear guard action involving a battalion size force represents nothing about their army's ability especially when that army has already lost the whole battle as well as the city they supposed to defend and subsequently the national capital. What I am really hitting out at is the fact KMT cared nothing about Xie and his men during the war and left them to rot as POWs with the British and many died. They could well have asked the British to repatriate them. In original 800 movie by Taiwan, they blatantly depicted Xie not as a POW but going on to fight the war on horseback as well. The PRC govt did not care either about these men until now when it is convenient for them as they pursue an anti- Japanese policy now. These men were heroes but neither KMT nor PRC gave them credit and use them.only for their own political agenda. The current version is even more twisted
