On Tuesday the 10th of August 2021 I flew with Loganair from Edinburgh Airport up to the Shetland Islands to Sumburgh Airport.
This was my first time flying on the ATR42-500 (G-LMRD which was delivered first to Eurowings back in October 1999 and then went on to fly with a number of airlines including Azul and Aurigny before being delivered to Loganair on the 6th of August 2020) and my first time visiting the very far North East of Scotland.
The flight was great, with a typical Loganair friendly cabin crew and ground staff who I have always found very friendly and helpful all of the times I have flown with them in 2021. I arrived at Secure Airparks at Edinburgh Airport at around 0530am where I then took the short bus shuttle to the airport terminal, and then boarded my flight at around 0700 after a quick pass through security. There was almost a small technical issue as the ground power was disconnected too early from the aircraft, and thus meant we had no power for a few minutes. Despite this, the crew worked tirelessly to get us back on schedule. Soon we departed runway 24 from holding point Charlie at 07:47 (crazy for any avgeek haha) and climbed up to our cruising altitude of FL210 and flew North toward Huntly, and then further to Sumburgh.
The airline now provides a complimentary inflight service with a free drink and snack which is most welcome on these short domestic flights.
