Is there a distance on the app or can it work from anywhere? I park maybe a football field away from the building (hangar) I actually work in and is there a time limit on the start up or does it stay on forever when you start it up? My Malibu will only stay on for 10 minutes and it’s super annoying.

@@mustang9549 so... I’m currently on the golf course and I just tried it. I’m probably easily 500-750 yards away and it started, from what the app told me. Minimum is 15 minutes and you can extend to 30.

try closing the app entirely and open again, I had that same issue with my car, its not the truck so you don't have to pull over, its the apple carplay software, its a little funky sometimes or switch to a ford default screen out of apple carplay and then back over to applecarplay, or unplug and replug your phone back in. My audio sometimes is muted when I start my car so i have to go to vw default radio and turn up/down radio slightly then go back over to apple carplay and my volume works magically. Hopefully this resolves or lessons your issue

Do not think about buying a Ford without the Tailgate step, one of the best options of all time. I bought my first F-150 the first year they came out, 1975. I hauled race cars all around the country with it. 360 2V , using the SAE net rattings we use today it had 145 HP. I put on at least 25% of the miles in 2nd gear on the C-6 due to lack of power. It ran many a mile at 4000 rpm in mountain areas. I am amazed that me and friends that did this are still alive. The new 1/2 ton pickups from all manufacturers can easily tow more than most, if not all 1 tons of the 70's, 80's and much of the 90's. Overall, trucks and cars are getting better every year. I am still hauling race cars, but it is much safer and easier now.

One big thing on the financing - remember that interest is front loaded. Especially at a higher rate, you could be throwing thousands more at Ford Credit that could be going in your pocket or at principal. It's kind of shocking, but the old adage - "the bank always gets paid first". Great video! So many things I agree with here as a F-150 owner. Just great, comfortable, versatile, powerful trucks. Oh and the taxes and tags here in Nebraska are *brutal*. At least you're not in Lincoln/Omaha and don't have to pay the wheel tax.. that was pain, pure pain.

That’s a nice truck. I’m satisfied with XLT / LT / SLT level trucks; good enough (cloth seats are cooler in the summer and warmer to the touch in winter before the heat goes on. Your reviews Tim are straight up honest 👍. I like your family member’s review of a gas engine 2500 GM/Chevy as well. My 2020 Chevy 6.6L gas 2500 LT 4x4 Z71 with AutoTrac (AWD) in Alberta, Canada that also only needs regular 87 octane cost me $61K Cdn (GM employee pricing sale) + 5% sales tax (within $2K of this Ford F-150). Your new Ford has pros and drives like a sedan (nice), though mine is stiffer as might be expected (3/4 ton) yet my payload is 3330 lbs. (this Ford’s is near 1650). When I pulled our trailer in 2020 with weight of about 8300 lbs., we experienced 7.5-9 US mpg (interesting that you experienced 7.5 with approx. 5K trailer). Mind you I typically get 15-16 US mpg unloaded and 12-15 US mpg in Canadian winter (more idling, etc.). I also like my bumper steps and upfront box steps and internal box is similar with LED lighting and plug ins yet no generator built in (I have one already thankfully yet Ford has a very nice feature here - built in). Let’s keep in touch and I’d be happy to update you once again. Lastly, I like the idea that for me at least, an expected long term owner, mine is naturally aspirated (no turbo or battery system to repair or replace in the future which could mean +$5000 quite easily). Best regards.

As someone who just put new Katskins leather upholstery in my 2016 F150. Those seats are covered with cloth upholstery, not "seat covers". That being said, they do clean up well while staying installed on the seats.

Hi Tim I’m glad you’re enjoying your new truck. But there are much cheaper ways to enjoy your new truck for a year and then get rid of it. Lease it for three years 36,000 miles that way you get to use it for 36,000 miles and then after one year you can turn it in. You can negotiate a nice cheap three year lease on the truck and you can put a lot of miles on the truck this way and turn the lease truck in or trade it after one year for another vehicle. I’m sure you’re going to try a different vehicle after one year but this way your lease payments are way less than $1000 a month. You can usually get a three year lease for approximately $380 a month if you negotiate properly with $3000 down. So as you see that is much cheaper than you’re paying now just trying to help. We all work hard for our money why pay more for the trucks than we have to.

With regard to your lament about Sync 4 occasionally losing connection to your phone. I think that's an issue with all the brands. My Toyota Avalon sometimes drops connection with my iPhone. The same is true with virtually every vehicle I've rented of whatever brand. (I used to travel a lot for business and get the chance to 'test drive' a lot of different brands.) That may be just the nature of Bluetooth. The same thing happens with AV receiver in our family. If I'm using Airplay to cast a movie from my phone or iPad, inevitably, the connection will drop a couple of times. I think we're just spoiled by how well this complex technology works 99% of the time. The 1% of the time it doesn't work upsets us. In reality, we should be in awe it works as well as it does.

I've owned 2 Ford P/Us with the pop-out step. I'm short, 5'3" and those steps are useless if you are not at least 5'6" or taller. Other than protecting the paint in the bed, I'm not sure of the utility of a bed liner. The bed is aluminum and doesn't rust. In the days of steel beds, the slide in liners would allow water to pool underneath them and if there were any scratches down to bare metal the bed would rust over time. The spray liner was a better choice. Now days if you feel you need a liner, you can get a Rhino or Xline spray-in liner done for about half the price of what Ford/dealers charge for them. If you have the time and ambition, you can even buy kits and to it yourself. The sad truth is Ford (as well as GM & Chrysler) primary profit maker is pickups and SUVs with pickups being the biggest seller for Ford. So they mark them up to ridiculous levels to keep the cash flowing. Compounded that is Ford (based on sales volume) seems to be the preferred pickup in the market place. That in turn helps to drive the retail price level as well. The other manufacturers see what Ford can get for their trucks so they price theirs at or near Ford's MSRP.

In the winter it gets packed with snow then sticks when trying to open or won't latch when trying to close it. He has also tried to unlatch it w/out success only to find when driving it pops out. I have a Beststop step attached at the rear and it works great - even when packed with snow and it's also in line with stuff kicked up by the rear tire. Expensive tho, but given the cost of your truck... This spring will be the test since we have a lot of clay and it really packs to the point the power washer has difficulty getting it off.

Interesting video, makes choices difficult. I am eligible for the Ford and GM Employee purchase price here in Michigan. GM has 72 mos @ 0% interest and $2750 is cash rebates, I believe Ford Motor Credit has 6.9% for 72 months, which starts really adding up, and I believe Chrysler Financial also has 0% for 72 months, so for a retail purchase, GM and Ram are better values than Ford at this time from a purely numbers standpoint.

Thanks again for another good video... and thanks for answering my questions about the seats! Thoughts: On the cloth seat issue, my 2011 EcoBoost has leather, but the underside of the back seat has a carpet-like cloth. It catches dog hair like you wouldn't believe. Your XLT appears to have something similar. So, raising the back seat to offer a flat loading surface SEEMS like a great idea for dogs... IF it weren't for that cloth underneath the seat. Could you post your mpg numbers somewhere? You ran through them fairly quick. The electronics in all cars are bit buggy these days. Most of them require a "reboot' from time to time. A pain, I agree.

The truck will cycle the engine on and off depending on power needs from the plugs. Basically, power comes from the battery and once the battery is depleted, the engine comes on to charge the battery. If your power needs exceed the battery already, the truck will run to supply power to the plugs and the battery.

I really like the F150 but I will not get the hybrid. The battery and electric motor reduce the payload greatly. That truck can tow 12,000 pounds but only has a payload capacity of 1546. If you have 1,200 pounds on your hitch, that only gives you 346 for passengers and cargo. Not that I would ever tow that much, but I never want to come even close to maxing out my truck. The only other thing I don’t like about your truck is that it has the max towing package but no towing mirrors. Why do dealers order trucks that way? If you’re going to tow you want towing mirrors.

The truck stickered for 61k. Ford gives a $2000.00 discount for 302A pkg. If you get the co pilot 2.0 there's another 250 off. Your down to 58-59k. Then whatever rebates which were $3000 at the time you bought your truck. Then whatever the dealer is discounting the truck. You say it was 54k out the door. I would say you paid 51-52k but you didn't pay tax or fees when you bought the truck. You paid $4800 in taxes and fees so you really paid 58-59k. I understand you're not keeping the truck, so in reality you're not paying what the amount owed . The dealer only discounted the truck say 2000-2500? The friends and family, or Xplan whatever you want to call it should be more than that.

Hi Tim! I need your help, please!!! I'm getting a mix of responses and I feel you are the man to speak to! Ford can be very confusing. I have been reading the 2021 Ford Towing Guide. Here is my scenario and please let me know if I am on the right track. I'm purchasing a boat and will receive it in August. The boat loaded (gas/engines/water) is 8500 lbs. The trailer for the boat is approx 1,200 lbs. To be conservative let's say I will be hauling 10,000 lbs WITHOUT A WD HITCH. I am considering a 2021 F-150, Lariat, Supercrew 4x4, 145.4 WB (short box) with a 3.5 V6 Ecoboost, 3.55 axel ratio, and Max Trailer Tow Package. The guide says this config = 13,900 lbs towing capacity (page 20 of the guide). This is not a work truck, so payload will just be people. I like to have as much room to play with even though won't exceed the 13,900 towing capacity the guide says or get near it. Unless I get a larger boat :0). The load cap is around 1,700 lbs more or less, and I am aware this number is lowered by the tongue weight. Based on these specs, AM I GOOD? Tongue weight should be between 600-800 lbs so no problem there. My confusion is...... Why does the trailer hitch say on the sticker under the vehicle, Class IV with a max tongue weight of 500 lbs and max conventional towing of 5k lbs? I've looked at several trucks with the above specs and every single hitch says the same thing??? Doesn't the hitch need to be a class V? Does this not matter because of the way the vehicle is ultimately configured? P.S. I wish they were as simple as GM/Chevy where they put the capacity nice and clear on all the trucks. It avoids having to do so much research. Hello, thanks for the comment. I’m not sure why the trailer hitch sticker states it at 5k lbs. I’d go with the truck spec sheet. The question is “are you good” then with those specs? Sure, on paper you are good. The real question is going to be how comfortable you are moving that much weight with the half ton. Towing 10k lbs with a 1/2 ton is no joke and there is the debate from people. Some say it will, others say it won’t. I say it will. I don’t say you’ll enjoy the experience nor will make it far since you’ll be using a lot of gas. In my view, if you plan a short tow (50-100 miles) you should be ok. Just have to take it slow and be cautious. If you are doing a lot longer drives, probably worth it to step up to a 3/4 ton. I had this same debate and did a video on it. There is a lot to consider between a 1/2 and a 3/4 ton truck in terms of towing and overall ownership.
