Wish he would stop calling it Hyundai Genesis. They actually made an effort NOT to use any Hyundai vehicle as a platform. It’s like saying “This Volkswagen Bentley”.
@drivingsports
3 жыл бұрын
The fact is that outside the car world many people have no idea what Genesis is. Saying they are a division of Hyundai is shorthand for much of the tech in the vehicle. If Bentley started business today, yes, we’d be saying Bentley by Volkswagen. When Lexus started it was largely noted to be “Lexus, the luxury brand by Toyota” for its first decade. If you bought a Bentley or Lexus today would go to a dealership of the same name and level of luxury. But, here in the USA if you want to buy a Genesis you will likely have to go to your local Hyundai dealer since the brand-specific store roll-out has been slow to non-existent.

@@drivingsports Still a lame excuse. None of these "two-names" occurs for Lexus, Infinity, and Acura. And, they exchange a lot of "tech" /components. It would be appropriate to indicate that Genesis is a car manufactured by Hyundai. You know and I know that just combining both names degrades the branding of Genesis. Don't take it from me, just call Mark del Rosso. I would like to know how he would market his brand.
@TravelwithIvan

Not sure about the rest of the world, but in the states, they still use the same dealership as Hyundai, so they can't separate themselves from the brand. Where as in Canada, at least they have Genesis in showrooms at different locations, but use the same service locations, which you should never see as they're suppose to pick the car up from your house. That has yet to be seen as I've had my car for my Genesis for a year and it's impossible to get a loaner car without booking way ahead.
